    Astell&Kern AK T8iE MkⅡ(Impressions and discussions thread)

I think the main reason why people are deterred from them mainly stems from QC and warranty issues. IMO they have everything it takes to be popular - good sound, good fit, well-known brands and gorgeous looks, all at a quite reasonable price compared to top flight BA's cost these day.

Astell&Kern beyerdynamic AK T8iE Review (First Impressions from IFA 2015)

Just got an used pair of the AK T8ie MK2 yesterday (risky move, I know, but I managed a pretty sweet deal on it). Immediate impressions compared to the Andromeda are as follow (both are plugged into my ZX2):   - The AK proved to be significantly less sensitive than the Andromeda, requiring...

    Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II

Same here. I just bought an used one and have been astounded at the amount of detail this thing output. Depending on the pairing, it can get a bit dry and clinical or just pure magic. I've never heard my JH13 sound this good.   UI is an absolute step up from the original AK100. Faster, more...

    Oriolus Hybrid IEM

Yeah I have to admit that I got a bit more curious about it from your feedback. Saw a nice deal on an used one and thought I'd just give it a shot since aesthetically and ergonomically it was head and shoulder above the stock one. Glad I went with it. Thank you! :D

    Oriolus Hybrid IEM

I've recently acquired a PW Audio No.5 cable (akin to the one that comes with the Japanese version of the Oriolus). IMHO and it could be my ears playing tricks on me, there is a distinct different between the PW Audio No.5 and the stock cable that comes with the Chinese version. The No.5 rounds...

Definitely - thank you very much

    Oriolus Hybrid IEM

Sorry but could you elaborate a bit more on how the Oriolus sounds with the Mojo? I am pretty intrigued by the Mojo and planning on picking up an used one soon, but reviews seem to indicate that there is marginal to zero improvement on using the Mojo with sensitive IEMs. Wondering if that would...

    Oriolus Hybrid IEM

Based on sonic qualities alone, personally I'd rate the Oriolus higher - they have a more open feel, the treble is more agreeable to my ears and dat bass. All factors combined - tough. Do you plan on keeping just one, or both? In case you do just one, how much do you think you could recuperate...

    Oriolus Hybrid IEM

Well it seems mine is the "inferior" Chinese version, but to be honest I don't really care since the thing sounds good enough for me already. While I do consider myself a cable believer, I'd rather not venture into uncharted territories and put my money into things that are better guaranteed to...

    Oriolus Hybrid IEM

No problemo. IMO, the Oriolus v2 is definitely superior to the TG! when it comes to technical prowess (as is my jh13). Truth be told, I sold my TG! and recouped a fair amount on it, so I was looking for some cheaper replacement to use in my office. I was fairly interested from all the rave...

FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal!

I concur. Everything considered, it seems their business principle is one of a kind in the first place compared to other companies. They look like they place little, or even no emphasis into generating profits or expanding their business. They impose rules upon their customers unlike other...

FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal!

I concur. It took me a real while to hunt down a pair here in Vietnam, and the price wasn't exactly cheap either (though I suppose it was quite a bit cheaper if we're talking in term of what you'd have to fork out to secure a new pair outside Japan). I can definitely see the reasons for the high...

FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal!

Just got an used pair of 334's a few days ago. Compared to my JH13FP, the 334's definitely seemed more exciting and awe-striking at first listens, but further A-Bing revealed how much more accurate and neutral the 13's were, especially in the low end department. The 13's also proved themselves...

Shure SE846: A New In-Ear Flagship From Shure. Finally! (Impressions p26-28)

I'd advise you to forget about this - Mr.proedros here is known universally around this forum to be a person who'd bash pretty much anything under the sun which is not his "beloved" Hifiman's or K3003 as overpriced piece of **** - without actually owning or at least having extensively auditioned...

New custom IEM company - Custom Art: discussion, review, and impressions thread

I'm sure that Piotrus makes some really nice CIEMs with awesome bang for buck, but you need to realise that this childish behaviour of praising something to the high heaven through the means of bashing some other alternatives is not in any way helping the company in the question. How about...

Just got my brand new ACS T1 customs. They sound wrong to me (incl. graphs)

I'm no expert either, but from my own experience and average_joe's review, the T1 mids have a tendency of getting quite congested at high volume and "shouty" at times, especially with complex passages since they are labelled as "stage monitor", thus designed in a way that would give stage...

    Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

I usually did it with putting the earpieces in the holes first and wrapping the cables around the case as tightly as possible. Normally the end plug would end up getting plugged into the lower hole on the side of the case.

    Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Fair enough. Let us agree to disagree, though I fully understand that for some folks, the Tenore's wow factor might just be the fact that it has no wow factor at all. My 2 cents have always been there, you know :)

    Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Oh sorry I did not mean PRaT specifically. More like a wow factor if you will. Something that the 800's possess but the Tenore doesn't. Or maybe my ears aren't meant for neutral gear :p

    Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Not trying to get sidetracked here, but I have recently brieftly demo'ed the Tenore and while it sounded really good for the price, it didn't sound like a giant killer to me. I found it to be, well, a bit too flat sounding and perhaps lackluster for a lack of a better word. In fact, I much...

    The Fiio X5 Thread

Here's my short bit if impressions about the X5 and some comparison with the DX50, both of which were shortly auditioned by me at a local audio store using my JH13FP:   Regarding build quality, the X5 felt fantastic in my hand. Its weight, while actually was a bit more than I initially...

"New 12 drivers flagship custom in-ear monitors" in the description section? is that description reliable?

Unique Melody Mentor debut in Tokyo e-earphone festival

I'm not sure it is going to be something like 335DW vs. the rest of the Fitear lineup , AnakChan, but the very first piece of information about the Maestro does unveil that it is going to be UM's new flagship: http://iconosquare.com/p/767124834246385067_979027230.

Unique Melody Mentor debut in Tokyo e-earphone festival

Excuse my question, but have you actually heard the Roxanne to make such a statement? I actually find the fact that UM keeps churning out flagship IEMs with ever-increasing driver count in short time windows speak volume about the sales performance of Mentor and that's even more on the marketing...

JH Audio JH-13 PRO impressions thread

If they are trying to phase in the 4-pin cable, then they're bound to do it at one point or another. It might be the case that your order just came in at a bad time. Btw, how do you find the bass adjustment pot? Is it any good with the 13's, or more of a gimmick?
