Beyerdynamic T1 3rd Gen out now
Custom Cans in Cheltenham do a superb detachable cable mod. They have some YouTube videos showing the process on several Grado.- Twizzleshnizzle

Beyerdynamic T1 3rd Gen out now
Have you tried Shipibo pads with your GH2? Really lovely addition. I also have the ZMF Beyer pads and adapters for them. Comfy but not quite as good a sound. Sorry to be off topic.- Twizzleshnizzle

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)
I don't think I tried those pads. At the time I was trying to keep the signature as close as possible. Since then I love a good earpad experimentation.- Twizzleshnizzle

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)
Minimal change, it's very hard to notice anything apart from a bit more space. I was very happy with the result as I don't like the stock pads. They're a crappy material. I tested various other Beyer pads. No others worked well. Ebay is often full of used custom cables, OFC copper and the like...- Twizzleshnizzle

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)
I did, but I can't say it's made any difference to sound. Just shorter so easier to use. Hope the pads work out for you.- Twizzleshnizzle

Beyerdynamic T1 3rd Gen out now
The wireless is a bit of a mess. Sounds terrible (lack of bass) without a good seal, which is tough to get on it. Many, many better headphones for the same money. If the choice is one of these, then T1 all day long.- Twizzleshnizzle

Never tried them personally. But you were talking about budget originally. I assumed you also fancied open back. In this price range you could try a Focal perhaps.- Twizzleshnizzle

Fostex TH909 Announcement
Most Beyers don't, the T1 gen 2 are very different to the others. I wouldn't disregard them based off trying the 1990 or any other models. Very different beast, very unique, worthy of any collection.- Twizzleshnizzle

Fostex TH909 Announcement
Have you listened to a 909? If not, you might find they're not for you. Personally I adore them, but they can be bright with a bad pairing amp/dac. I didn't get on with them with my old Schiit Jotunheim, but there fantastic from my Chord Mojo 2. If you do like the sound then try a used pair of...- Twizzleshnizzle

Honestly the Mojo has more than enough power for them. If you did want to improve, the Mojo 2 is genuinely an excellent upgrade in regards to functionality. But the original Mojo is a superb devices.- Twizzleshnizzle

I'm just using a Mojo 2. Not exactly cheap, but less expensive than many other options. They're such an excellent pairing.- Twizzleshnizzle

Fostex TH909 Announcement
These headphones deserve far more credit than they receive. I'd take them over anything else I've owned, that includes some ZMF, Meze Empyrean, LCD-X, the list goes on. With the right amp (not necessarily expensive powerhouse amp) they're incredible.- Twizzleshnizzle

Drop + Dan Clark Audio AEON Open X - Impressions Thread
I agree with you there. Fantastic headphone. But I'd warn anyone considering a pair to possibly go for the RT instead to avoid Drop. I've bought quite a bit from Drop. The only issue I ever had was a dead driver on these. Drop didn't want to know despite being in warranty. Outright refused to...- Twizzleshnizzle

Fostex TH909 Announcement
I'm very sensible to treble. I've used the 909 with other setups and struggled with the treble. No issue for me at all here. That's without any EQ from the Mojo, which has a really excellent and easy to use EQ feature. I downgraded from a Hugo 2, as I could barely hear a difference between it...- Twizzleshnizzle

I'm really surprised that the suede bass is increased so much more than leather. Go with the leather. As a general rule of thumb, when it comes to earpads stick with the same material types as stock if you want to increase comfort without dramatically changing the sound.- Twizzleshnizzle

New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation
Years ago I slapped a pair of solid leather earpads on a Fidelio X2. Destroyed the sound. That was my big lesson in the right kind of pad for the right headphone type.- Twizzleshnizzle

New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation
I don't think fenestrated would help it. They'd fit, but I think they'd be bad for the tuning. You need to stick with a solid pad.- Twizzleshnizzle

New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation
It's a definite upgrade. It's a more balanced tuning overall. You can also run them more easily from lower powered devices. I really enjoyed my T5p.2. I eventually replaced the stock earpads with Dekoni Leather ones. Made them perfect for me, better comfort and slightly more width again. You...- Twizzleshnizzle

Unless we're all using exactly the same equipment our experiences are of course going to vary. Source can make or break a headphone. That's why some of us get horribly caught up in tube rolling :dt880smile: (guilty)- Twizzleshnizzle
