IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution
I'd agree with that. Sits in between BA (least) and DD (most) generally speaking.- blotmouse

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution
I wouldn’t worry about it. I am hyper sensitive to it and own 2 very dynamic, very expensive iem’s that I can’t help but compare against with my impressions.- blotmouse

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution
I like Timeless for Metal (some material can be a little bit sharp - upper mids/lower treble - but can be EQ'd down) Still own a pair even though I have "better" more expensive gear handy. I use them for the gym but they were the reason I went ahead and sold my MEST mkii (also my gym iem). They...- blotmouse

Love it. It's a technical beast and extremely fast. Best Frontier series for blast beat's and extreme metal, imo.- blotmouse

There is a genre called Mathcore as @jwilliamhurst has mentioned but my intent was pretty loose in the term "math" and not specifically that small pack. I am pretty bad keeping up with genre labels and Electronic and Metal are the worst when it comes to sub genre creep. Almost like they create...- blotmouse

This month: 1) Extreme Metal (Black, Death, Thrash, Math) 2) Indie/Punk/Classic Rock 3) Electronic (Ambient, Acid, House, Glitch, Experimental) 4) Pop (Female, R&B, Hip Hop/Rap, Major label shlock) 5) Classical (Current mood being bombastic orchestral and organ focused) Found this little...- blotmouse

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
Highly subjective of course, but UAPP sounds better than the Qobuz app (clearer, no bass boosting, closer to audirvana on my desktop) and is faster performing with less time consuming unnecessary visual animations. It also is nice to unify your player experience between your local files and...- blotmouse

My opinion is do whatever you want. I don’t care if it is or isn’t altered. If it sounds good, it is good. Did my previous answer sound like I am anti EQ or something? My unclear point was: If you were to say EQ is a problem, hypothetically, this could be a reasoning put forth, etc. Then...- blotmouse

Fir Audio Thread - Discussion and Impressions
It takes time to adjust to Kr5 as well, fyi. It's not just Xe6's bass levels you need to adjust to. Kr5's lower treble/upper mids is also something your brian needs to adjust to. At first it comes across dull. Soon enough, everything falls into place just like Xe6 does. Just at another part of...- blotmouse

Yep yep. NOS has by far the more diminutive staging. In my opinion RS8 should to be tweaked for the purpose at hand. Leaving on one setting as "the best" is a disservice to the player, and there is no universal "best" anyway. HiBy did a great job with their OS filters (I feel) No real immediate...- blotmouse

CFA and divisive releases, am I right? It seems to be another love it or hate it IEM. Indifference is impossible. They do, but hearing is believing and just as many people I've talked to enjoy it as don't enjoy it.- blotmouse

It's a dual DD setup, not a single. 😉 I bought the Martini while my Leo was in the shop for a repair but ended up staying with Martini due to added stage expansion, separation & imaging, and further cleaned up treble and added a deeper bass response, the negative being it slightly sharpened the...- blotmouse

It totally works if you like that slight recession, but it is audible to me and I tend to like more mid presence to balance it a slight amount. SK has great texture and is probably my favorite single DD for pop music where a deeper V might be preferable (10% or less of what I listen to) You can...- blotmouse

They can't compete for pure resolution against TOTL BA implementations, but BA sets under $2000 they most def can. And massive bleed issues would only be for subpar DD's. Not the tech in general. Should I say BA's are a problem due to all the ring halo effect, poor timbral accuracy, and tubing...- blotmouse

Cayin N8ii: The Incredible DAP with ROHM DAC and fully BAL Nutube
Battery issues are back for me on 1.3. Wont charge. Indicator wrong, etc. Any small improvement is nulled by the inability to get properly working charge cycles under control. Going to 1.4. after it charges. I’ll probably end up back where I started at 1.5 though if I experience more issues 😔...- blotmouse

HiBy RS8 flagship Darwin R2R Android DAP -- Class A -- news and impressions thread
Absolutely. Kr5 fits in with your description as well. Kinetic bass is more spherically staged with added texture and rumble. Adds grip and is more explosive. Fav pairing right now for the FiR.- blotmouse

HiBy RS8 flagship Darwin R2R Android DAP -- Class A -- news and impressions thread
Ugh, plugins now crash every attempt to get in. I just want to make sure it isn't turning anything on. Previously there was a reboot bug where one or more plugins were toggled on after reboot. In my case it was the fixed sample rate, causing glitched playback. Now it just crashes. Not sure how I...- blotmouse
