Thanks. Good to know. The stock tubes are meh and I was initially underwhelmed by the Mjolnir 2 because of them. =) I am using some Telefunken e88cc (non CCA) and I wonder if the ifi tubes are as good or better.

Did you  I have the same question. Did you find any other 2.5mm TRRS -> 3.5mm TRS adapter? The other one I found is http://www.aloaudio.com/female-2-5mm-to-3-5mm-adapter-plug, but I am not ready to shell out that much money on an adapter.

Bass definition is improved and cleaner with that bloating gone.   Still very fun to listen to. (My reference is a well amped HE6.)

Yes I have listened to the closed EL8  first hand and they are just not my cup of tea.

I can't speak for the open EL8 since I have not heard them, but HE500 are much better than EL8 closed and they can still be found for $500 on Amazon with Prime shipping right now.   I sold my own pair last year for more than that. 

I was not amazed by the other owner liking his EL8, but the fact that nobody else liked them.  =)
