Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
Hey, does anyone from NA know a place to buy the stock analytical pads? They are my fav for providing the flattest FR and thus easier to EQ it to my taste but I can't find it on beyer's website, only the EU one but unfortunately they don't ship it overseas.- Makahl

SoftEars is coming up with an entry-level product. 1DD+2BA. More than 1000CNY should be realistically around 200-250USD? Interesting.- Makahl

Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread
@MOONDROP out of curiosity, is that normal for the KATO's brass filter to start showing signs of oxidation? I've been using it for 3-4 days and storing it inside a pelican case with silica packets but it seems only the area that was with the eartip mounted on is starting to turn green-ish.- Makahl

Tanchjim in ear monitors Impressions Thread
They shared more details and a graph on Weibo as well: It looks cool at the first look, but using WPD to grab the graph and when placing it into a more conventional scaling it seems a very spicy tuning and the most upper-mid forward among Tanchjim's lineup. (both graphs normalized at...- Makahl

Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread
Herbert (Moondrop's CEO) posted a graph on their discord for the "Variations": Dunno if it's just a prototype or final tuning, but FR-wise it follows their traditional harman-ish target. And also their new ultra-budget (~$10 USD):- Makahl

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
If by "stop working" you mean one side getting considerably quieter than the other it very likely could be ear moisture building up and slowly clogging the nozzle screen filter, which sort of blocks the air passage (so letting it sit/dry out fixes the issue as described by you). This issue is...- Makahl

Cutting a 6mm heat shrink tubing into rings and placing it on the bullet body worked pretty well to me (I don't even need to heat it up to get a tight fit).- Makahl

iem that is dark sounding with triple or double flange tips
Well, I disagree. E1000 is considerably brighter than E500 and worse sounding with weird peaks at the treble IMO. Also, I thought your goal was a dark sounding IEM. I think your 3-flange needs to be worn out quite a bit, a brand new eartip the stem is too stiff (made this video showing on E500)...- Makahl

NF Audio impression thread.
Well, like I said you already need to take it with a grain of salt because the typical coupler resonance peak present on IEC711 couplers at ~8-10K is also not matched due to different insertion depths. I've matched both graphs manually at 1K on REW for a better reading/comparison but you can...- Makahl

iem that is dark sounding with triple or double flange tips
Have you considered the possibility of getting the etymotic filters pack to replace the green (default) filter for one with higher dampening value (such as as the red and orange)? It'll tame the upper-mids and treble quite a bit. But my personal favorite dark IEM and similar fitting to...- Makahl

Drop + JVC HA-FDX1 Dual Carbon IEM...available in the US!
White filter + sticking the KXXS filter on the top of the original mesh. You'll notice a gap but turned out this gap helped to keep the air frequencies intact, unlike the most dampening filter.- Makahl

Mod(ge) Podge: A consolidated thread for all IEM modifications
Wow, nice! Definitely, I'll try it. I just got my DQ6 yesterday and even though I'm liking it a lot for instrumentals I confess that peak at the treble is a bit bothersome/harsh to me when the cymbals strike at loud-ish volumes, and perhaps that's the culprit for the slightly artificial tonality...- Makahl

NF Audio impression thread.
I'm surprised at how I like the NM2+ more off an Apple dongle than off an E1DA 9038D. Despite the E1DA having more resolution, the final result got a bit too emotionless/cold for my taste. Apple dongle sounds more organic (especially for vocals) and not as intense. Really digging this combo now.- Makahl
