Correct, I use the timers to let it stand by and then go off to avoid putting stress in the volume wheel, this works after I stop the music at the set time. but my unit goes OFF even when playing music... any other advise?

very interesting, case being one the 2 is not bit perfect, you will need to insure there are no DSP in the foobar engine or bitdeep forcing, otherwise it shoud be bitperfect. If possible you may want to try other player, i.e. I use Jriver with outstanding results. Also I have some doubts USB...

you need to go to settings (not sure android or shanling app settings) and look for USB mode, you will find the DAC option.

While you are in these big leagues of portable gear, M6, R5, etc.... you may take the opportunity to get into Hi-ress audio which must be wired, get a pair of IEMs and reach heaven... you will discover music like never before...cheers.

welcome Ken. when I exercise (running mostly) I use my small Shanling M0 for convenience, not bluetooth, but wired. this way you get best sound quality possible. If you bought the M6 to use with any wireless head set I think you over spent your money and could better stay with your phone...
