Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)

Thanks for the feedback - I'm quite curious myself as to how close the prediction usually is in the treble region. Only 1 way to find out. I see this as quite a subjective question. I personally like my metal with more uppermid and subbass focused earphones while I know some people like it...

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)

Thank you for the feedback! You're absolutely right that this is just a experiment. For the future I'm looking to solidify the EQ settings by measuring and personally listening and adjusting the filters. Anecdotally, do you feel that all the EQ settings you have tried ended up with a somewhat...

You will need Menubus (to route the plugins to the correct drivers) and then use Fabfilter for the PEQ. Fab does seem like a paid programme though... He also mentioned "AULab" so you could look into that. Seems free. With ios phones its a lost cause :frowning2:

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)

Thank you for the feedback. Piotr once told me his UIEMs are tuned a little differently in attempt to try to match the CIEM sound. However the filters should still change the bass response totally (eliminating a lot of warmth) and you'll hear a big change compared to stock. If crinacle ever...

Also, side note on the target curve EQ filter project. I got access to crinacle's database and came up with EQ settings for 30+ earphones. These EQ settings are all done on a prediction basis and currently I am having some friends with their IEMs run through these settings to hear if they sound...

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)

I personally perceive the S8 as having better detail and imaging than 1695 and M7. 1695 has seen quite conflicting user reports in my experience - some say the treble peaks are ridiculously fatiguing while some, like me, are fine with it. I do somewhat enjoy the bass and mids of the 1695...

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)

DAPs are a little difficult to work around honestly. They are usually tied down to graphic EQ with a fixed Q factor. However Android DAPs with UAPP do have parametric EQ which I will have much easier time coming up EQ parameters for. Currently a large part of my work process is to use Room EQ...

With a smaller fi A smaller shell might also help it fit deeper and change the acoustics of the treble in reactance to different air volume in the canal :)

Presenting: Toranku Target v5! Now with a bass shelf starting from 150hz and 8dB gain at 3khz. Decreased treble by 2dB at 10khz. Master post (with public access data) can be found here. Spent a lot of time these few weeks at home to come up with this revision. Lots and lots of testing and...

Sounds like you find it bloated which I can relate. You can get tighter and better textured bass if you choose to reduce the 200-300hz range. Try a 0.7 Q @ 200 or 250hz and slowly reduce the dB until you're satisfied as an experiment.

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)

I don't have both, but I have heard both extensively. N3 has better top end extension and on a technical level it's slightly better. But I'd say N3 is still a warm and bassy earphone like E5K is. May sound like sacrilege, but EQ the E5K a bit to see if it helps (its free!!!). Reduce the entire...

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)

I do find that they sound a little slower in the M7/9. But overall I'd still say they still carry a typical BA type of sound. With the M7/9 they are also tuned well with a nice warm and easy going balance and the treble is also generally laid back but not rolled off. With 846 the treble...

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)

M9 and S8Z springs to mind. Though 8Z has much more treble energy than M9 so it would give the impression of clarity at first. M9 is one of my favourite all rounder. See if you can look for Hidition NT6 as well. But their distribution is crap so I doubt it. I've seen qdc Gemini/8SL go for $700...

Here's a 71 minute long podcast between @OverlordRush, @antdroid, Leneo (a good friend of mine) and myself. We discuss about the Dawn against the competition. More of a casual, friendly discussion & most of us have pretty crappy mic quality (sorry!) Enjoy :)
