    Samsung's new IEM's

Quote:   Quote:   Why?  Samsung is one of the largest consumer electronics companies in the world, and I can't even imagine what their yearly R&D budget is ... wouldn't be unexpected at all to me if they put out some quite decent IEMs.

Shootout: 114 Portable Headphones Reviewed (Xiaomi Mi Headphones added 04/21/2015)

Quote: Whew, those PIIQ PQ2 are some of the fugliest portables I have ever seen.  They look like a bad set of sofa cushions from the 1970s!   (p.s. in the last sentence in the review it looks like an 'o' is missing in 'Coloud')   The Philips Stretch, on the other hand, looks...

SP-100 Sound Pressure Level Meter for earphones and iems!!

Just finished my review of the SPL-100.  I must say that I was impressed by it.  Been quite a long since I've reviewed a product that was so useful.  My biggest complaint is that you can't find it anywhere readily available for sale!

A plea to the community--let's standardize the way we describe sonic signatures

Quote: So you are saying that when someone describes sound they completely forgoe using descriptive terms like bass, treble, etc.?

Review: Munitio Teknine SITi 9mm – Locked & Loaded

Quite a review, nice job with it (even if it was a bit lengthy for my taste. :-) )   I remember being interested in these when they first came out, but couldn't get ahold of a pair and so I completely forgot about them until seeing this review.  Your review certainly makes them sound...

Anyone try the Phiaton PS 20 yet?

As usual, joker is spot on.  Although I've never really been sold on the idea of a half-in ear design, the PS20 sure does a lot right for it's $99 retail price. Full review is at

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

Great thread - subscribed to it.   Thanks Prog Rock Man for the effort to compile these various links together!  Have not read through all of them yet, but working my way through them one at a time.  No real surprises, thus far.

    TDK EB900 comments, anyone?

Full review of the EB900 is done:   Overall a decent set of IEMs, but nothing extraordinary and you can find better clarity/detail at their price point.

    Good cheap 2:0 speakers?

Which Altec Lansings did you end up getting? I would have recommended the Altec Lansing VS2621 for a less than $50 choice. My dad is using them now, and they are not half bad considering the price.

    [REVIEW] Phiaton PS210 - The Half-Blood Prince

Excellent review, I enjoyed reading it and appreciate what I believe is the 1st PS210 review on head-fi (pls correct me if I'm wrong). Does Phiaton mention anything in a user manual / user guide about covering up the vent holes to tune the sound? Since you mention it is a "mod" I assume not ...

    Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)

Any plans (or already in the works) to review any of the Sleek Audio offerings? e.g. SA1 or SA6? I had thought you already had one or more of their IEMs in this shootout, but unless I am mistaken I don't see any in there so far.

    5.1 Vs 2.1

It depends entirely on how the audio is processed by your receiver. Most AV receivers have a 2.1 mode where the other channels in a 5.1 soundtrack will be "matrixed" together into your 2.1 speakers. However, if you have your receiver set on a 5.1 surround mode and you only connect 2 speakers and...

Hello Head-Fi! Phiaton offers you free gear!

Cheers on the nice giveaway! Most important aspect of headphones for me? It can be boiled down to one word: value Great sound quality, comfort/ergonomics and durability are all moot points if the headphones are a poor value in comparison to the competition.

    Good IEMs for jogging?

Meelec M6's get my vote. Memory wire keeps them firmly planted in my ears during all my running (indoors and outdoors), and they sound really good for their price point.

How to measure sound level in IEMs

Before posting I did a number of searches on "sound level" and "measure sound level", and was not able to find any answer to my question. If this question has already been asked and answered, please point me to the thread. I am looking for an objective way to measure the sound level in a set...
