    The discovery thread!

There were rumblings on how the Vernus and Falcon Pro essentially share the same driver as the Softears Turii. Falcon Pro is tuned quite different from the Turii but Vernus is pretty close. I suspect they wanted to avoid conflict with Softears/Moondrop so they kept Vernus limited edition and the...

That's also part of the magnetic structure. It's the outer circular part you see in the teardown picture. It's a standard part in many DD designs, such as in the Aria: It's just a single DD.

There's probably going to be a boat-load of new planars being released later this year. Might be worth waiting, unless you've got money to burn. :)

@Penon can you provide a graph of the Vortex with the Y-axis scale visible? Can't tell if it's increments of 5dB or 10dB and it seems to be scaring some folks away.

Your impressions seems consistent with the others I've seen online. :) The Aria SE is allegedly using an older generation driver from the Kanas Pro, which may explain the disappointing technical performance. I've read that the original Aria has better technicalities, and even that one I would...

Excellent IEM at a great price! Easy communication and transaction, too. Highly recommended seller.

Might be a similar driver as the TRN Kirin and Muse Power.

Is the "square vibration driver" supposed to be a (bone-conduction) piezo or a planar? I'm thinking planar?

    TRN impressions thread

There are tuning filters that dampen the mid and treble frequencies. That's one of the methods many IEMs are tuned. Some IEMs are packaged with extra tuning filters, such as Moondrop's or Tanchjim's single DD IEMs. Those filters can reduce certain frequencies by 5dB or more. Here's an example...

    TRN impressions thread

I think you'll only need to put a filter on the nozzle. Given that they forgot to put one on the extra nozzles anyways, it's almost like they had intended for you to put your own 😛

    TRN impressions thread

Looks like my prediction that the Kirin is very similar to the MUSE Power was correct! :) Compared to the MUSE Power, the Kirin is much less expensive, better built, and comes with different tuning nozzles. Might be a win for TRN. @saldsald by chance, do you have any tuning filters? I think...

Interesting. Looks like all 8 EST per side share a single transformer. I believe their product description states that 4 EST are for high frequencies and another 4 EST are for ultra high, but I don't see how that frequency division would be accomplished with everything hooked up to a single...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Those are the very thin tips they included for IEMs like the DQ6. Not the same as starlines. The CRN has clear starline tips. I don't think you can order those on their own, unfortunately.

If you want an even warmer sound, you can try the KZ ZEX (aka the CCA NRA), but that has some treble oddities, at least for me. I'll give it another listen tonight. Edit: After some testing, I found the treble on the ZEX to be more bothersome than the CRA. I think the CRA is the way to go...
