Drop + JVC HA-FDX1 Dual Carbon IEM...available in the US!

You can still find the MDR-EX1000 in retail stores in Japan, it's just discontinued in the global market. As for alternatives for the FDX1, I personally felt that the 7hz Timeless is a good replacement. Same great sound, same bad ergomics :P

Coversely I've stopped looking for SQ upgrades in headphones. Too expensive for minimal returns. I used a much better cable on it and the difference is negligible. It doesn't scale with better cables. Precisely. Its due to the 4.5khz peak. You can get rid of it with the nozzle mod (linked in...

Yeah thats what i was thinking. Rather than showing the same graph, a graph of what the extra drivers do without the main driver would be more insightful to what they contribute. In BA iems, it is common practice to have multiple drivers playing the same thing to increase the tonal weight of...

There was a discussion of how the DX240 compares with the N3 PRO to which i basically say its no contest

Yes, for iems its not that simple. But for daps its much easier to compare on a technical level. Soundstage DX160 >>> N3 PRO DX160 is more holographic, much wider and deeper Instrument separation DX160 >> N3 PRO Partly aided by the wider sounstage, instruments sound distinct and less muddled...

I dont think a suction cup would work very well on cracked glass. A heat gun/hairdryer and a business card would work better in my experience.

DX240 DAP. DAC ES9038PRO - AMP8MK2 . If needed the DX240 Tool is on the first page.

The DX160 handily beat the N3 PRO in all concievable technical aspects across every single mode I tried, I ended scrapping my detailed DX160 vs N3 PRO comparison because it would have just looked like I was bashing the N3 PRO or shilling for the DX160. And I bought the DX160, the N3 PRO I...

I'm not sure about you but I didn't enjoy the variations for bassy electronic music. It has tons of rumble but very little impact making the presentation wierd imo. Like you can feel the bass drop but the impact never comes. Per your description i think the 7hz timeless would be a good fit for...

Unfortunately I don't have a measuring rig. Maybe one day @RikudouGoku could grace us with a graph of this mod.

I'd give the CCA CRAs a shot. The bass signature is practically identical but the CRAs have more treble energy. If the 4.5khz peak bothers you, consider performing the nozzle mod for the CRA

Got a few more pairs of CCA CRA in to mod so I thought that I might as well make a detailed step by step guide on how to do my nozzle mod. This mod aims to tame the 4.5khz peak without sacrificing detail or extension. What you need: Alcohol wipes/swabs, Needle, scissors 1. Take off the...

If its really good I don't mind spending the extra. That said, how would you think I would like it if I didn't find the u12 and u18t to be detailed enough?

iBasso DX160 - The listening experience only gets better and better. ******NEW FW 1.09 - link 1st page.******

Yes I'd give it a shot if possible. Yes the bass is heavy but not in the way normal basshead iems are tuned. The mids stay mostly untouched without any nasty midbass bloat many $500 dollar iems don't manage to achieve. It really is exceptional value. If you don't want to try it my next...

I'm using alcohol swabs you get in those 100 pack boxes. Just cut them to size and roll them up into the nozzle. I use a needle to help insert them into the nozzle. Make sure you keep a tight grip on the needle though as the magnet in the driver will attract it.

I've heard the variations and compared to my modded FDX1 it actually loses out some micro detail when the subbass comes into play. It's treble extension was one of the things that got me to consider upgrading to a better iem tho. On the topic of EQ, while I'm a big fan of what it can do, its...

what do you mean by "DX160 with lighter bass and good mids" The CRA are a super detailed neutral iem with a fun oriented bass boost. I would consider this audiophle quailty basshead tuning which gives you as much bass as possible without affecting the clarity of the iem much. I've only heard...

I did actually. Looking at FR graphs were how the Oracle got onto my potential upgrade list. I've not tried the Timeless yet but the way reviewers describe it as "soft" sounding doesn't give me much hope since I do like a sharper cleaner sound. Regarding the midnight, I've tried the Dusk and I...

Definitely one of my criticisms of the stock CRA. Consider trying the nozzle damper mod, i find that it tames the 5khz peak pretty well.

Is it possible to tweak it to tune to reviewer targets? I would like to know what a few reviewer's preference targets are to better understand their reviewing standpoint.
