+1. The more I listen to the KR5, the more I’m beginning to realize it might well be my favorite IEM at the moment.

I definitely haven't burned in the Szalayi for quite enough time to be able to give a truly definitive answer to that question but, from my current perspective, they are very different. The Szalayi is definitely not tamer, with less energy, that's for sure. At least not in the bass. What sets...

I match @aaf evo's findings and I have the UIEM version of the XE6. I do have an unusually good fit with them though, so maybe that is why.

I would totally agree with this. Just goes to show that we all hear differently, I guess.

It's added mid bass relative to the EVO might give the impression of it being more mid bass focussed but the XE6 absolutely does not skimp on the sub bass.

I would have to A/B them all to give you a more specific answer but... I'd say the DM is further away in signature than the other two. Whereas the other two are clearly heavily bass dominant, I would describe the DM as 'reference' with an increased bass shelf. All IMR IEMs tend to have...

Both are absolutely top tier IEMs. I'd say the principal differences are that the XE6 has more extension at both ends of the spectrum (and perhaps a bit more mid bass too). It also has a significantly bigger stage. The quality and control of the bass is excellent on both but the tactile nature...

I can answer that. Yes, it’s extraordinary value for the price as long as you enjoy a bassier-leaning IEM. It has an overall sound signature quite unlike anything else in my collection. Personally, I love it!

Maybe the Noble Khan would fill your number 3 spot too.

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)

My suggestions: 4. VE Elysium 5. VE EXT or Penon Legend

The XE6 and KR5 are both astonishingly good IEMs.

    That’s a tough one but probably… 1. Trailli 2. XE6 3. EXT Close runner-ups: EE Legend EVO, Softears Cerberus, IMR Dark Matter & U12t

I totally agree! The @Penon Legend is one of the most underrated and overlooked IEMs of recent years. It’s a true TOTL contender that deserves WAY more recognition.

Great seller. Super courteous and prompt. Would definitely buy from again.

I’m with Michael on this one. It’s the easiest DAP recommend ever. Truly spectacular sound for a portable device with several fine tuning options to match specific IEMs.

IMR Audio : Sonic Adventures & Impressions

The Midnight are AWESOME! I saw them live 3 times in the space of a year, as I just happened to be in the relevant cities when they were playing. Feelgood retro vibes don’t get better than this.

IMR Audio : Sonic Adventures & Impressions

You will not be disappointed. The Avalons are terrific and, of the five IMRs I own (Elysium, Semper, BC, Ozar being the other 4), I would say they are the best, which is no small feat given the quality of the other 4. I’ve said it many times before and I say it again - Bob is doing some of the...

The Incredible Cayin N8ii DAP with ROHM DAC and fully BAL Nutube

Also @Andykong I’ve noticed that the battery charging limit doesn’t work. I set it to 80% and it charged to 100%.

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP

Simply put, it’s because those three modules contain some of the best sound available on the portable market. I loved both the A02/C9 combo as well as the R01 module so much that I actually ended up buying a second N6ii so I could always have them both to hand. I’ve also just purchased an N8ii...

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)

I’m not sure I agree. I think it’s just a different kind of presentation. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore the EVO and EXT but I think the MEXT has its own place and I do think it competes with much more pricey IEMs. I’m shocked by how good they are, to be honest, as I wasn’t expecting...
