Same, as long as I don't move around too much. I generally prefer the IER to the MDR for pure sound quality, especially with the Taz, but the MDR has a unique presentation IEMs can't quite replicate, so having both is the best of both worlds, especially with Signature Series sources.

Does that include used price? I reckon many here bought far more expensive IEMs for ~$1200 on the used market than they did retail. I know I did. If it does, Z1R (obviously). If not...hmm...probably Meze Advar, of the sub-$1200 IEMs I've heard.

No, but from everything I've read about the M9, you can't really compare it with the Z1R. They're two different animals. @Damz87 may be able to shed more light on the differences, but M9 was designed as a stage monitor, and Z1R as an audiophile/enthusiast IEM.

You can connect a regular USB-micro to USB-C cable to the TAZ, but you lose the charging function. If you're happy for the TAZ not to charge your devices, you don't need a special cable.
