The Watercooler-- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.
I reviewed it around 9 months ago, but basically, I find it one of the most technical strong IEMs around for its price point which is about $1100 USD. It's a neutral with big sub-bass boost that really slams hard and has good dynamics and resolution. My biggest two faults with it are that the...- antdroid

THIEAUDIO ELIXIR UNIVERSAL IN EAR
I unfortunately do not have a Zen Pro, but I have been comparing it to original Dunu Zen quite a bit over the past week. My review will be written may be this weekend or early next week. I also have a Tin P1 Max to write up too. But quick summary of my impressions so far: It fits great, but the...- antdroid

DX240 DAP. DAC ES9038PRO - AMP8MK2 . If needed the DX240 Tool is on the first page.
Helpful images! I'll try to use some tools and see if I can re-arrange the capacitor to make it not protrude so high up. I'm a little concerned about the leads touching too. Not a lot of space in there! I may need to do some isolation work as well.- antdroid

Anyone with the Amp3Mod -- did you have trouble getting it to fit inside? The orange capacitor on mine seems to be too large and is above the notch making it not fit into my player. Tried to slightly move it to the side and down a little bit but I still cant get this thing to fit in. I havent...- antdroid

In my experience, typically the minimum phase, hybrid or no-oversampling (not available on DX240) give a slightly warmer experience. Minimum phase filters have little to no pre-ringing, while linear phase has equal parts pre and post-ringing effect. Hybrid is more like an MQA filter if I...- antdroid

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
No, it doesnt sound like that. There's a little roll-off but its most likely due to not getting perfect seal on my coupling plate. I didn't try to force it down to get more sub-bass. But most open-back dynamics have roll-off around this frequency, so its not unusual. Just a fair warning for...- antdroid

Cayin RU6: R-2R USB Dongle DAC with Head-Amp
Very brief and quick impressions: Song: Joy of my Life from Chris Stapleton iBasso DX240 (Amp8 MK2) - This one is slightly more leaner, but with a small amount of better clarity and detail. It sounds a little more effortless and graceful with a more balanced and even sound signature. It has...- antdroid

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Posted my impressions of the Atrium here: https://www.audiodiscourse.com/2022/04/zmf-atrium-impressions-measurements.html tl;dr - nothing new from my previous impressions other than I really really like using these with my rock music collection. It's a great combination for it. Probably my...- antdroid

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
I removed the mesh, and that 5kish peak was insane. I'd show the measurement to go with it but it will scare people who like to only stare at squiggles. The filter is definitely needed unless you only listen to bass notes. :) Definitely agree. I really like the Atrium with rock music. It's...- antdroid

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Checking out a demo ZMF Atrium for a couple days... This is a nicely tuned set! It has a definitely ZMF sounding mid-range but has more elevated upper-mids which I like, especially when compared to the Verite Open I used to own and how I remember the Aeolus sounding. I'm not sure it's as...- antdroid

Roon's sample rate shows up correctly in the taskbar sample rate, so thats where I am getting that from, however Roon upsamples automatically to 192, which is a little annoying but I guess that's how Roon on Android works now. That was a surprise to me since this wasn't the case with Hiby or...- antdroid

RAPTGO HOOK-X In Ear Monitor
Unless you listen extremely loudly, you won't be bothering other people, and if you are, you are mostly like deaf at that point. :) This isn't as open as iSine's and I never had any issues wearing those at the office cubicle land. That said, these are not fully isolating, you'll still hear a...- antdroid

I don't have any updates on Storm. Just know that its coming as soon as they get their parts in to build up units. I will be reviewing it. Not sure what their tour strategy will be. I think they may become a sponsor here when its closer to release and announce more info officially. Toranku...- antdroid

This thread moves so fast. :D Got myself a new toy this weekend. So far I like the tuning, and the hardware is significantly faster and improved over the previous generation of iBasso DAPs (220/200/160). I havent tried the 300 yet, but Im pretty happy thus far with this 240. Using the Amp8 Mk2...- antdroid

RAPTGO HOOK-X In Ear Monitor
I haven't listened to either one of these. My review touches briefly only the original Mojo. I hear the Mojo 2 is more neutral than the Mojo 1 so it may pair quite well. I would prefer this specific IEM with less warm sources myself. I have not heard the Kato specifically yet, but I talk a...- antdroid

RAPTGO HOOK-X In Ear Monitor
Since there's a bit of comparisons between these three. The S12 and Timeless are quite similar, but I think they do sound a little different. I think the S12 is bassier, while the Timeless is a tad leaner but very similar. The Hook-X is different sounding, with a much different presentation...- antdroid
