Introducing the CE1 - The World's Most Somethingist Headphone

Welcome to the CE1 tour! I hope this will be a fun and useful extension of our project testing various couplers/human-ear simulators (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/etymotic-er2se-a-reference-headphone-for-your-ears-and-your-couplers.908512/). The CE1 is not a regular IEM - it's an IEM with...

Review by 'csglinux' on item 'Tanchjim Darling'

Disclaimers & Background I hereby acknowledge myself for having supplied me with a Tanchjim Darling that I can keep after this review :) I made a rather unusual decision to purchase this IEM blind, based on design alone. I was pretty sure this would fit my ears without any issues; the sound...

Great review :) Just curious on one point... you weren't actually listening to the M5 via the Little Dot mk3, were you?!? Great choice of test track of course, but the M5 is super-sensitive to z-out: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pl0swslgd9taagu/m5_zout.png?dl=0

@RikudouGoku - did you find the M11 to be an upgrade? The LG quad DAC phones are pretty underrated, IMHO. Look for the M11 on this list - it's right at the bottom (meaning worst performance): http://soundexpert.org/articles/-/blogs/audio-quality-of-high-end-portable-players

Review by 'csglinux' on item 'RHA CL2 Planar'

Acknowledgements and Disclaimers I'd like to sincerely thank Colum and the rest of the good people at RHA for kindly allowing me to be part of the North American CL2 tour. The CL2 used for this review was loaned to me and was passed on to the next reviewer at the end of my week-long review...

Review by 'csglinux' on item 'beyerdynamic Xelento remote'

Preamble I would like to be able to start by thanking Beyerdynamic for the free pair of Xelentos. Unfortunately, I can't, because Beyerdynamic didn't give me a free pair of Xelentos, so I had to buy my own :frowning2: But the silver lining for anybody reading this review is that I truly wasn't...

Nice review :-)   Do you have any more information about these filters in the Mango player? I suspect these are just roll-off filters, right? In other words, active only at/around 20 kHz? Can you really hear any difference at all with these?

Reply to review by 'csglinux' on item 'FiiO AM2A - Medium Power Amplifier Module For X7'

Hi Brooko - Nice detailed review, as always! I hope you can indulge me with a couple of questions...   1) I'm now in a position to compare am2 and am1 amps. I know I probably can't do this reliably with only one X7 given the time it'll take to swap the amps and adjust the volume but I'm going to...

Nice review :-) I agree 100% with all your observations. I made my comparisons against the iPhone 6, but reached basically the same conclusion. The sound is surprisingly similar. There is a little more treble extension with the X5ii, but it's hard to say for sure whether there's really extra...
