Wells Audio - Impressions & Questions
I have the Looking Glass 2 Level 2 and also had the older Looking Glass Reference. Both are excellent and tighten up the sound in a very natural way. I feel like the new Looking Glass has a bit blacker background and more body to the sound.- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
I’d suggest giving it a week or about 200 hrs. The LCD5 will easily show differences between cables. The stock cable didn’t make it more than a day since it sounded veiled to me, but I didn’t give it enough time. The 200 hour recommendation comes from Jeff Wells of Wells Audio about...- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-4
I agree.. most organic and linear sounding of all the cables I’ve tried with the LCD4. They’re cryo treated, and that seems to add a realism to the sound.- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
A couple of huge variables in these comparisons are headphone cables used and chain. Listening on the stock cable and the DHC Prion4 are very different experiences. Also, with such a low impedance, I would expect substantial variance between amps.- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
The sticking Rean connectors has always happened to me with Audeze’s cables. I feel they’re a liability for Audeze at this point. I’ve tried other plugs from Eidolic, Furutech, and others. I’ve never had the sticking issue with any other connectors. If they had a better connector, chances...- johnzz4

Wells Audio - Impressions & Questions
No, just enough for testing. Based on my experience with the Headtrip, I know I’ve got quite a bit of time ahead of me before it’s fully settled in. Good thing it’s sounding awesome in the meantime.- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
I’ve had ground loop hum with the LCD5 as well. I was concerned until I realized it was only when my iPad (streamer remote) was plugged in and I was using it while listening. If I don’t touch the iPad or unplug it while using it, there’s no hum. Based on the number of people experiencing...- johnzz4

Wells Audio - Impressions & Questions
That’s funny, I’ve done the same to make sure I wasn’t without a Wells amp. @Bonddam, I believe you’ve mentioned prior that you listen to some electronic music. How is the Cipher for that? I don’t want to lose the bass I’m currently getting with the Denafrips Terminator Plus, but I’ve heard...- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
Interesting, I found the Wireworld Silver Sphere to be pretty neutral throughout the frequency range with a little too much treble zing for my liking. I moved to the transparent premium and found it a bit warmer and balanced throughout. I'm quite sure that digital interconnects respond...- johnzz4

Wells Audio - Impressions & Questions
After having the Headtrip 2 Level 2 for about a year, I recently sent it back to Jeff for some updates. I got the new Goldpoint attenuator - now silent when changing the volume unlike the Khozmo that preceded it. Also, the outboard power supply has made it so that even my ultra efficient and...- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
So I've had three days with the LCD5 now and have been comparing them to the LCD4. As many others have stated, the LCD5 is much more neutral and 'quick' compared to the LCD4. Upon initial listen, it was a bit too lean for my liking and had some grittiness in the lower treble. I left it...- johnzz4

You'll likely stop with the volume control long before the LCD5 is damaged. No problem having an amp with excess power as long as you're not using all of it - which is regulated by the volume control. I'll be using an amp with 25wpc at the LCD5 impedance.- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
For the reviewers that have the LCD5 in hand and know the LCD4, would you say this is a clear upgrade or just another flavor? I'm strictly talking about sound quality. I know there are many attributes to sound quality, but subjectively, overall, is the LCD5 clear progress on the sound quality...- johnzz4

Wells Audio - Impressions & Questions
That’s quite a testament to the Dragon. Congrats. I may have to get the Dragon to complement the HT2 L2 at some point but I’m more curious about the Cipher at the moment. Listening mostly to electronic music, I want to make sure the Cipher has enough bass considering your previous comparison...- johnzz4

Old "King" of R2R DAC Is Dead? Denafrips Terminator-Plus / Terminator+ Arrives
What filter does everyone primarily use? OS Fast, OS Slow, or NOS? I find OS fast to have the better tonality and greater dynamics, but OS slow seems to have a larger soundstage. I haven’t been exploring NOS much since I’m running 44.1K from Tidal and want to avoid the treble roll off.- johnzz4
