Hand built custom headphones
To be honest, it might be an easier starting point for you to modify something like a fostex t50rp before building headphones from scratch. It's cheap, it'll be a good experience to learn about headphone construction, damping and frequency response; best of all there are a ton of information...- ujamerstand

Those specs are unimportant. What's important is the driver's frequency response and distortion values. You'll probably have to measure those yourself.- ujamerstand

That's a terrific FR response. CSD curves are remarkably similar to the 007s as well. Congratulations! Did he happen to take distortion measurements for the headphones as well?- ujamerstand

The Stax thread (New)
It's great to see more people setting up their own measurement rigs. We really need to get our own thread going, somewhere to discuss the effect of various materials on the result, what should we consider as neutral results, and how can we process the raw data to get rid of the coupler's...- ujamerstand

Results looking good! We see the importance of getting a good seal when measuring stats cans. :) What is PUF? Does it stand for polyurenthane? If so, my measurements conforms to yours.- ujamerstand

Raspberry Pi & DIY
which chip? You'll have to load the right ALSA device driver. I remember that TI's pcm2702 usb dac works right out of the box. Also, I'd simply go headless on the thing. If you really need to, xtunnel to the thing via ssh.- ujamerstand

Do Objective Headphone Measurements Correlate to the Audiophile's Subjective Experience?
The raw uncompensated measurements are exactly what they are, raw measurements where the microphone's response and other artifacts introduced by the measurement rig are not corrected.- ujamerstand

Stax Sigma wood mesh housing?
Quote: I would if it didn't cost so much. I think it's at least 120 dollars for the two cups. That's a spendy failure if the structure flexes and causes coloration... There's always making the backplate with steel bronze, but I think it's too costly and too heavy. I'll look more closely...- ujamerstand
