    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Great advice here!   Using a DAC is hardly about just eliminating noise; though it certainly should do that. Getting even an entry level DAC, compared to your onboard sound, will noticeably improve overall clarity and soundstage. To use the common analogy, it'll be like removing a veil from...

Definitely looking forward to trying these. I am patiently awaiting TheCableCo to get their Library pair, as I am first in queue to borrow it. When I do, I will post my impressions as well, and I'll offer some comparisons to my beloved HE-5LE.   I'll also mention in passing that I have had a...

    Lets Talk Metal

Give the album a shot. They play metalcore, which I know is a generally stale genre right now...I bore far too easily with most of what's being produced now, but this new album by ABR is creative and breathes fresh life into the genre, if I may be so bold to say.   Here's a taste...

    Lets Talk Metal

Hey all...so this might be my first post in this thread. I'm not sure what kinds of metal are popular with you guys, but thought I'd stop in and see if anyone has heard the new August Burns Red album yet? It is, imo, absolutely incredible. It's on a whole other level from their past work. The...

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Haven't heard the HE-300...so I can't comment on that. But the HD650 is a gorgeous sounding headphone. I think it'd be a great work headphone too, if the sound leakage really won't be an issue for you. I say that because it is a very smooth, non-fatiguing listen which means you can listen for...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

Agreed. I have the HE-5LE running off the Emotiva mini-X, and I have had the chance to compare it to the HE-4 on the same setup. The HE-4's sound (particularly the bass) really snaps into focus with the Emotiva. So there are satisfying, affordable options for the HE-4. That said, I ultimately...

Interesting, I always felt the HE-5LE was basically a more refined HE-4 with better vocals. I suppose it doesn't meet the "more efficient" side of things and doesn't quite reach the refinement of the HE-500, but after owning the HE-5LE for a while, I sold all my Grados as I felt there wasn't a...

I've enjoyed all your impressions (and photos) of the HE-560 so far! It sounds like a headphone I would very much like, based on what you've all said. It sounds like it exhibits many of the qualities I loved in my old HE-5LE, yet with improved comfort. I was very tempted to pre-order one, but I...

Yeah...does anyone want to sell me their HE-5LE? I had to choose between selling my computer and my HE-5LE to pay off some taxes...I chose poorly.

REVIEW - HiFiMan HE-560 Planar Magnetic Headphones - Stock Headphone Impressions here, No Mods other than cables (Review in Progress)

I had the old style velour pads. The ones with the really junky plastic tabs that everyone hates - sonically, I thought they were much better than the new velour pads.

REVIEW - HiFiMan HE-560 Planar Magnetic Headphones - Stock Headphone Impressions here, No Mods other than cables (Review in Progress)

So...I'm very much tempted to hit pre-order.   I sold my HE-5LE recently, which I simply adored, in order to pay off some taxes. I instantly regretted it and wished I had sold my desktop PC setup instead to pay off my taxes (I don't play video games anymore, but I do listen to music daily)...

So a question on the pricing - the pre-order price is listed at $899.00. Is this the final price of the HE-560, or is it a special pre-order price? I thought I read somewhere sometime about a reduced pre-order pricing?

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch

HE-5LE and HE-4 sound very close. The only difference as I could hear it was the HE-5LE is more refined sounding - less etched, smoother, more realism in the vocals. Basically a bigger, more mature brother to the HE-4. I like both btw, and would use the HE-4 over the HE-500 too. Well said...

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch

Or the HE-5LE ;) No...but really, the HE-5LE. I'm curious, do people actually prefer the HE-500 over the HE-5LE, or is it just that so few people have heard the HE-5LE that everyone naturally talks about the HE-500? I not only prefer the HE-5LE over the HE-500, I think it's substantially...

New Hifiman HE-5LE planar magnetic headphone

I did get to compare the HE-6 and HE-5LE on my Emotiva. Not the greatest setup for the HE-6, granted, but seeing as it was going to be my setup, I wanted to compare them on it and see if the HE-6 outshone the HE-5LE enough to warrant the jump in price. Clem's assessment resonates much with my...
