Albuquerque, NM meet - June 29 2019 Impressions

Thanks again to everyone who made the meet happen, I had a great time and it was a cool environment with a lot of teaching and guiding thorughout. Highlights for me were finally hearing some of the ZMF headphones for the first time, the LCD-X, and of course the Stax 007A mk2, which to me was...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

Ok. Thread consensus seems to be the Chord Mojo. It's not the form factor I was looking for but I'm coming to believe it may fit my needs the best. I may end up seeing how it works out in my mixed up use cases, then add a Fulla 2 / Modi Multibit to my M3 just so I'm not taking the Mojo with me...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

Thanks, I'm comparing that to the compiled list in my last post. The only question is with the Audeze headphones, but I'm not sure where they get their upper range to be at 4w (EL-8) and 1w (Sine). Since they don't seem to overpower my M3, they should be fine in practice with the Mojo or similar...

    Amp/DAC options up to ~$500

Part of the reason this is becoming complicated for me is that I have 4 different setups that I'm trying to figure out how to allocate everything between. In my original search, my X-DAC was still alive. Its death shuffled everything around.   Setup 1: Home theater. Gaming/Movie use...

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

Are these still sold anywhere? The usual suspects were OOS (discontinued)

Worth replacing Schiit Fulla 2 with Modi 2 for use with Vali 2 amp?

I've only read opinions, but many seem to think the regular Modi 2 is almost made obsolete by the Fulla 2. The question would then be whether the Modi 2 Multibit is a worthwhile upgrade...

    DAC Dying/Dead?

Is this expected for component failure? It's my first piece of audio gear to "expire"

Creative Sound Blaster X7 - Detailed Review & Impressions

Would this be a good replacement for an Emotiva BPA-1? Currently using with AV123 X-LS speakers, but would be nice to replace it with an all in one product to regain some table space.   X-LS: Nominal Impedance (ohms): 8     Recommended Amp Power (watts): 20–200    BPA-1: 75 Watts x 2 into...

Looking for a more comfortable SR-60e replacement

It really puzzles me. You'd think they would have found some way to add comfort, at least in their higher end headphones, without sacrificing their tonality. Even the Alessandro can's don't make an ergonomic leap

Looking for a more comfortable SR-60e replacement

I appreciate the suggestion but the information on them seems quite limited, and I can't find them for sale at any of the usual retailers I find reputable.   I should note I'm willing to spend a couple hundred dollars on these, given the build quality and comfort in addition to the sr60e...

Looking for a more comfortable SR-60e replacement

Many years ago, at a head-fi meet far far away...   I left with the impression that- Grado sr60 were sufficiently different and awesome from most of the show Sony Qualia / mdr-sa5000 were super comfortable, and almost sounded different enough from what I had to justify the price My...

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

I'm having problems with docking my E17 in my E09k. Lately there has been a significant channel imbalance, with the right barely because audible and coming through crackling when it does work. I've tried different USB ports, uninstalling/rebooting/reinstalling drivers, different headphones, and...

    Spotify alternatives

See if you can get some free trials, on Rdio and Google Play. I had a month on Google and 3 months on Rdio. My ranking would be 1- Rdio, 2- Google, 3- Spotify

Help Requested - Facebook Home Survey

Number 7 was a strange question for me, because support for home and being required to use home are totally different. It is my understanding that it can be installed and removed from a variety of devices pretty easily. (For me I would avoid a device that requires Home, but since it is easily...
