Avantone : Pro Planar
All the screws were well tightened, there was no change in sound signature.- WyldRage

Uh. Going to try that tonight. It seemed to me, during my last comparison, that the Planar was more congested than usual, which I assumed it was due to the comparison to electrostats.- WyldRage

I was also looking at the HE-6SE from Adorama, but frankly, I have enough Planars for the moment and I wanted a nice Dynamic headpone.- WyldRage

Man, that sucks, hope you can get a reimbursement. Well, that settles it for me. I'll be testing against my old LCD-2, then I'll return them. They have a nice, balanced sound, but they will break sooner or later: that metal piece holding the strap is so flimsy it's ridiculous! Elex already...- WyldRage

Avantone : Pro Planar
Got a cold, won't continue the reviews today. I tried the original pads, and yes, the clamp force does go down and the treble is slightly tamer, but then balance is still tilted towards the highs. At the moment, due to my condition probably, I cannot stand listening to the Sundara more than a...- WyldRage

Avantone : Pro Planar
Well, it really sucks that the build quality is so lousy on these.I don't have any issue on mine (#17), but I'll keep watching them. Luckily, I got them from a local dealer, so I can get a reimbursement or a replacement pair easily enough if something happens... I hope. Well then, let's...- WyldRage

I have the 2020 version. I bought it during the summer. I do have Dekoni pads on these (hybrids), so I will test with the Dekoni and with the original pads. It appears to follow the Harmon Curve very well. However, that curve is a preference curve, not necessarily what everyone perceives as...- WyldRage

Well, it's the next one I intend to do, though from memory I probably won't come out with the same conclusions as yours. Hopefully I'll have time tonight.- WyldRage

Avantone : Pro Planar
I've received the Avantone Planar thursday, so it's time for some first impressions: - COMFORT: it is quite comfortable, but heavy. The pads are well proportioned and my ears fit inside with a lot of room to work with. There is a bump in the headstrap, but I simply don't feel it (my hair does...- WyldRage

I don't know if this was posted here, but someone on the Headphones forum has posted a short review with measurements here: https://forum.headphones.com/t/whats-in-the-box/1765/2604- WyldRage

Smack;Bottlehead WOT
It does very well with both low and high impedance headphones, the trouble is with low-sensitivity headphones like the orthodynamic headphones (Audez'e and HifiMan). It does manages to do a quite respectable job with them, but the Smack just can't control them as well as one of the high-powered...- WyldRage

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
The Crack is very sensitive to the tube used in it. If you have access to other tubes, try rolling them: you might find some with very low noise floor.- WyldRage
