IEMs vs Full Size
you're not doing anything wrong, everyone has their own preferences! I, for one, dislike IEMs, not because of the sound, but because of their comfort - something you don't have any issue with.. as for listening at home, for casual listening while doing something else i usually prefer speakers...- Wolfskie

CIEM for around $500
I'm in the market to get myself a CIEM for commute and work (noisy server rooms) in the range of $500 US (preferably not much over, including shipping). The reason i'm looking for CIEM is comfort - regular iems just hurt my ears, regardless of which tips i use. I listen to mostly rock, jazz...- Wolfskie

Buying used headphones: Yes or No?
aside from a few headphones and all IEMs (i don't know, something about the going inside the ear things puts me off from 2nd hand), i bought all of my headphones second hand through head-fi or a local forum and for the most part it turned out as described in the ad and generally in good...- Wolfskie

ODAC Troubleshooting Help
I assume you've tried different USB cables? Do you have the ability to disassemble the chassis to look at the usb connector contacts (the solder points on the PCB)? maybe one or more of the surface mounted chip solder points?- Wolfskie

entry level CIEM for someone who dislikes IEMs
Hello everyone, I've been entertaining the notion and looking into buying CIEMs, for bus/train rides and work. bus/train is obvious, but i also work in a relatively noisy environment (multiple big server rooms), and while i have my '3M peltor optime 3' ear muffs - i can't really listen to music...- Wolfskie

Looking for a headphone recommendation for specific setup \ music types!
I don't suppose you've had the chance to listen to any of the headphones and/or setups mentioned? I had a chance to listen to some of the hifiman (he400i, he560) and audeze(lcd2, lcd3, lcdxc, el8) line ups with my set-up at the time (foobar2k -> HRT ms2 -> amb M^3) and compare them to my...- Wolfskie

Hifiman 400i Vs Sennhesier HD650
@Holypal, that would mean waiting for the drop to be live again and hoping for a chance to actually get one, last time iirc, the drop was over very quickly (limited amount of headphones, ran out). @trivium911 , unfortunately i don't have any experience with the HD650 (none worth mentioning...- Wolfskie

Audiophile USB Sound Card equal to M-Audio Audiophile 2496
I honestly don't know how they compare with the scarlett device, but i think an e-mu 0204 or 0404 might also fit the bill here, though probably 2nd hand, at your budget. iirc, they have the same/newer dac than the m-audio 192, which was the update to the 2496 (please correct me if i'm wrong).- Wolfskie

looking for on-ear headphones
thanks for the recommendations! i didn't even think of looking at amazon, how silly! how is the build quality on the CAL! and the zoro? since the akg broke after only a few months i think maybe he should get better built headphones, though ultimately the choice lies with him.- Wolfskie
