    Vintage 1990s DT990s - impedance?

Thanks, mystery solved. I contacted Beyerdynamic support and sent them the picture, as well, here is their response (translation mine):       Just measured mine, the DMM showed about 550 on both sides. Looks like I have the 600 ohm version, as other posters said.

    Vintage 1990s DT990s - impedance?

Presently, Beyerdynamic offers 32, 250 and 600 ohm versions. Not sure they always have. These seem pretty hard to drive compared to the Senn 595 and Denon D2000 I've got, so my guess is they may be 600 ohm - wondering if somebody can confirm.

    Vintage 1990s DT990s - impedance?

I bought these in Germany, circa 1991-1993.They cost 240 Deutsch Marks :-) In those 20 years, I've had to replace the cable (original was coiled), ear pads (originals were black) and head strap (original was leatherette). Can somebody help me identify which version this is and what impedance...

Anyone have tips on recognizing a Fake IE80?

Quote:   +1 -- same here. Just received a fake IE80 from a third party merchant via Amazon. Trying to work with them to get the issue resolved and the IEMs replaced with genuine ones -- let's see how that goes.

Upgrade from Beyer DT990 for office

I have a pair of DT990s bought in Germany about 20 years ago. I'm now using them in the office with a Zero DAC. They're great, but a bit worn, and the sound leakage really bothers my coworkers. So my requirements are:    Sound Quality comparable or better than DT990 Closed or IEM to...

    Canz3D & Clipping

I'm experiencing some problems with Canz3D on my Mac and was wondering if others had encountered the same. Setup: - iTunes 8.0.2, volume cranked to 100% - Audio HiJack Pro 2.8.3, 100% Gain, everything on 100% - Canz3D, "Full Blown" preset - RNDigital Inspector When enabling Canz3D...

    Cheap/simple replacement cord for DT990?

Update: The Sennheiser HD650 cable fits almost perfectly. The only slight issue is that the point where the two cables running to your ears join is a bit too close to the ears, so you can feel the cable under your chin. Other than that, works perfectly. Between this, new foam from...

DT990 foam replacement -- what foam to use?

Update: The replacement earpads from Beyerdynamic (part# 926679, EDT990V) come with the right foam (even though the web site I ordered from didn't explicitly say so or show the foam in the image). Problem solved.

    Cheap/simple replacement cord for DT990?

Answered my own question. Just ordered a Sennheiser H-92885 for $11.75 from sennheiser.com. I'll simply clip off the connectors on the headphone side and solder them into the Beyerdynamic. That should work well enough.

DT990 foam replacement -- what foam to use?

Repairing my 20yr old DT990. One of the things that went out is the thin foam between your ears and the drivers. Anybody know a good source for this type of foam, so I can cut it to the right size?
