Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
OK, sounds like we are on the same page. You said 99% of black metal is poorly recorded earlier which is what had me confused.- waylman

I have to disagree. If someone in the studio intentionally nails the sound on a raw recording, it's still poor? I would say if they were going for one sound and came out with another, that would be a poor result.- waylman

Do you think that with black metal/death metal they are possibly going for a specific sound? Calling it a poor recording because it doesn't sound like Fear Factory is a bit silly.- waylman

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
Hi metal heads. I've been testing out the Grado Hemp and the HiFiMAN Sundara over the last few days extensively. Both are fantastic for old school death, tech & doom which is generally what I listen to. I've been driving them with a Schiit Magni. A few notes... Hemp The good... Very light and...- waylman

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
Hey all, I’ve been testing out a couple different headphones lately (Sundara and DT 990 pro). I listen to death and doom mostly. I like both headphones quite a bit. Having a hard time picking a favorite honestly. However I find they both clamp quite a bit. Admittedly, I have a big head! I was...- waylman

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
Thanks for the recs! For sound signature, I really tend to focus in on the rhythm section. Love my bass and drums. I fear the leather pads will get too hot in LA. I quite like the foam pads on the Grado's for staying cool. Any thoughts on good cans for metal with foam pads??- waylman

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my cans. I listen to a lot of death & doom mainly. I am looking for something that is somewhat portable as I usually jam out to death while walking my dog. I live in Los Angeles so I don't want anything that will get hot. I currently have the Grado SR60e which I...- waylman

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
Hi all, looking for a budget recommendation under $400. I listen to mainly death metal, some tech, some doom. I'm currently rocking the Grado SR-60e which sound pretty good to me but I'm sure I can do better. I listen on my iPhone/laptop a lot but am looking into a better setup as I sit at my...- waylman

Considering the PX200-II
I've done a fair bit of reading on the PX200-II and they seem like exactly what I need. The only thing holding me back is they don't seem very bassy...(I'm a bit of a bass head). Are their any similar alternatives that are more bassy? I'll be using these for portable audio exclusively with...- waylman

best 5-10gb player
I'm looking for something smaller than what I have now which is a 3rd gen 40gb iPod. Besides the fact that I hate it, it just has too much space! I can never figure out what the hell to listen to....sooo, I'm looking for a nice 5-10gb player. It does not need to have video support as I'll only...- waylman
