A solution to free-moving Grado driver chamber!

afaik, a friend tried his hardest to buy just the leather headband for the grados and they absolutely would not. I think he eventually bought them from someone else who had a broken pair or whatnot.

    Swan M200's or Audioengine A5's?

By the same reasoning you might be inclined to think that the audioengines offer less soundwise and charge a premium for "ipod" connectivity. Tough choice indeed.

    Swan M200's or Audioengine A5's?

You're only going to hear praise about either system. Can you buy both and return the one you don't like? Listening to both in person is the only proper way to compare both in terms of sound. You can judge the features and appearance online.

Need help with some old Wharfedales

There's not much you can do easily to fix the problem. This could be a problem that's been present since the speaker was manufactured. Is the volume in the bad driver just low or is it distorting as well? Try emailing wharfedale and seeing if you can get a replacement or at least specs on the...

Question on magnetic field effects from speakers/subs on electronics

Your speaker has a persistent magnetic field from the permanent magnet regardless of whether it's on or off. It's the nature of the material. When you turn the speaker on, the speaker's voice coil becomes an electromagnet. With two magnets near each other, one of them is going to feel...

Try swapping drivers first. Then move on from there.

Need help with some old Wharfedales

Oh now I see the pictures. They weren't showing up before. If you can check for continuity across parts of the crossover then that might be a start. If you can swap drivers from the other speaker, see if the problem follows the driver. Then you can isolate the problem to either the driver...

Need help with some old Wharfedales

Did you actually see a place that a knob would've been? The most common problem with large speakers being shipped are crossover components breaking loose. It's quite possible that a heavy inductor (or inductors) was glued on its side to make it off axis from other inductors. The glue might be...

    Orb speakers?

If you're looking for a small speaker, they'll probably sound better than Bose. But you can't break the laws of physics so if you want better sound you'll probably want to go with larger speakers.
