Thanks, but those are quite a lot more than i wanted to spend :P Thanks for the suggestion. Have you tried the 12$ ones though? They are cheap but look like good quality and I was just thinking of something that works.- uli87

Sennheiser HD598- recable, single sided, balanced
I am also just starting to look into balanced. I assume this would work? So my understanding is that the HD598 is wired balanced and all I would need to do is buy this 2.5 mm cable and it's good to go?- uli87

Well, out of boredom I started looking into whole balanced vs SE issue. I figure I can use my Sennheiser HD598 if i buy a 2.5 trrs balanced cable (the headphones should have balanced wiring in them from what I read) and I could also replace my UM Merlin CIEM cable with a balanced one. I know a...- uli87

I Well you know how it is : “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”. :) I was just really hyped at first because this player looks beautiful with a new more streamline UI...- uli87

Looking at the output of the DX120 vs DX90 (for SE PO only): DX90 : Output Level: 1.3Vrms(Low gain), 2.0Vrms(Mid gain), 2.8Vrms(High Gain) DX120: Maximum output level: 1.8Vrms (it says nothing about high/low gain) Is it safe to say the DX90 has A lot more power for SE headphones? If I don't...- uli87

Are all of your headphones/iem balanced? Or are you saying that even with SE it is more powerful than the DX90? Do you have an idea of how they would pair with a CIEM with impedance of 12 ohm? Functionally I am sure the DX120 would be way better than the DX90 but that alone won't be worth the...- uli87

This is exactly what I am wondering. Haven't been on these forums in ages as I really was content with my DX90 + UM Merlin CIEM combo. Can this thing really sound much better though? Had my DX90 for 3 years now, and it's still functioning quite well although it feels a bit outdated and charge...- uli87

Audio Technica ATH-E70, ATH-E50, ATH-E40 IEMs announced at NAMM 2016
I had fitting issues with E40 when I first got it. First make sure to play around with the different ear tips till you feel like you found the smallest size that will still Isolate and give you the lows. I realized you really have to play with the memory wire to get them to sit still in the...- uli87

Audio Technica ATH-E70, ATH-E50, ATH-E40 IEMs announced at NAMM 2016
Update on the E40. Apparently I wasn't getting a proper seal. after going down from the largest sized tips back to the ones that arrive attached to the IEM - of course the bass is no longer as anemic as I thought at first and more importantly the harsh upper mid freq is much more balanced in...- uli87

Audio Technica ATH-E70, ATH-E50, ATH-E40 IEMs announced at NAMM 2016
Just received the E40 a few hours ago. Have been listening non-stop since. The fit is absolutely terrific for my biggish ears (at least the concha and ear canal). The part that actually sits in the concha is quite small and feels as if I'm not wearing much at all. These IEMs are very light...- uli87

Audio-Technica Fans: what other brands/models do you like?
If you don't like the design of over the ear, you can check out the CKR10 or CKR9. There's a lot of info on them in CKR series threads and reviews.- uli87

REVIEW: Unique Melody Merlin - hybrid dynamic/balanced armature custom IEM
I read great things about the Velvet at the time they came out. How does their soundstage compare to the Merlins? I am all about soundstage :P I don't have too much to spend on gear at the moment, and the last headphones I bought were Vsonic VSD5 which were around $60 and they have an...- uli87
