    Fiio X3 Nightmare

The X3 in theory should work with any PC from XP onwards but it is much easier to buy or use a micro SD adapter. You can buy small adapters that plug directly into a USB port and your X3 memory card will be detected as a hard drive. Then just cut and paste your music files.

    Fiio X3 Nightmare

I gave given up plugging my X3 into my Windows 7 PC. Instead I take the micro SD card out and put it into an adapter which is read fine by my PC

More Fiio X3 64GB MicroSD Issues!

With my replacement X3 I can see all my albums and I have about 58gb worth on one card. All of the cards I have work with this model. If you are still able to return it then I would and ask for a replacement. This is ONLY my opinion based on how I resolved my issues.

    X3 Optical Output won't work

I have to agree with you that there are issues with most types of complex technology and that it is unreasonable not to expect the odd issue.   I would argue though that there are varying levels of what a consumer should expect based on the functions the gadget is expected to perform. For...

    X3 Optical Output won't work

Technically the X3 is miles ahead of the iPod and other portable players I have tried in terms of quality of playback, I would not argue about that. Free software is available for a variety of functions but surely a buyer of a consumer product should not be expected to trawl the internet to find...

    X3 Optical Output won't work

Hi James   With my X3 came a leaflet recommending I buy from HDTracks.com which I assume that because FIIO put it in the box, must be a recommended source of music. This is where I bought the Rod Stewart album that caused the problems. In the instructions that came with the X3 it does say...

More Fiio X3 64GB MicroSD Issues!

The cards I tried in the first X3 I had all worked fine on my other devices too. I think one issue is that the X3 is very sensitive to any errors on a card, ones that other devices may work with.A format utility in the software would be the best solution. I also think that the format of the...

    X3 Optical Output won't work

James   you are correct, the guys at Peachtree got back to me and said the same. They said that the 192/24 files play back via line out because the internal DAC in the Peachtree is being bypassed.    Now there is just the issue to sort out as to why the 96kHz files from the Rod Stewart...

    X3 Optical Output won't work

Thank you James. I have contacted the manufacturer of my amplifier to see if they can help.  Once you have tested the 96kHz file that freezes my X3 I would like to know if it freezes your too. If it doesn't then it looks like I have a second faulty X3 :-(

More Fiio X3 64GB MicroSD Issues!

Hi. The new card is a class 10 but some of my other cards are class 4 and they work fine. I only bought a class 10 in case it didn't work so I could use it with my camera where writing a 10meg image needs all the speed it can get. Have you tested your card? OK so take the card that is causing...

    X3 Optical Output won't work

I have copied the 96kHz Rod Stewart files to a new 64gb card received from Amazon this morning but they still won't play, only the ones re-saved via Audacity work. The good news is that the card formatted and was read by the X3 without problem.   Sandisk Ultra 64GB Class 10 Micro SD Card...

    X3 Optical Output won't work

James, just replied to your PM and am uploading 3 files to my Dropbox account. I have sent you the links but please leave it about another hour before attempting to download them. I hope they will help you work out what is happening. I am sending you:   1. One of the original 96kHz tracks...

More Fiio X3 64GB MicroSD Issues!

There seems to be too many individual issues to know whether its worth returning or not. All I can say is that mine had major issues including a faulty coax adapter and I returned it to amazon based on that. I am finding even with the replacement that there are some issues which have not been...

    X3 Optical Output won't work

Yep 192 :-) Thanks for the tip I will give it a try. I have tried re-encoding with JRiver and also saving them through Audacity but to no avail.   Update: Just tried it on one track and it made no difference. The 192kHz file will only play via headphones and line out and not via coax out.
