Article: "Death spurs headphone debate"
Is there even any proof that the headphones were involved in the accident? The article just said that a friend told the reporters he spent a lot of time listening to headphones, not that he was even wearing them when he died, although it's strongly implied.- ThomasJB

Share your opinions on Absinthe
I think most of the rumors come from old anti-alcohol propaganda from early last century. As to the legal status, I'm fairly sure it's always been legal to possess and consume, and the restrictions on selling it (in the US) were relaxed last year.- ThomasJB

Recommend some horror/sci-fi/fantasy novels for young readers
I second all the recommendations so far, except Cyberiad, Pendragon, and Earthsea, which I haven't read. Especially the Chronicles of Prydain. If you want cyberpunk, I'd suggest Rainbows End by Vernor Vinge, instead of Neuromancer. I would also recommend the rest of Heinlein's juveniles, as...- ThomasJB

Newbie Headphone Recommendations
for IEMs, definitely try ER-4 (S or P). you can usually get them for around $140 used in the US (around £70) or new for $190 or so (£95). Definitely no boomy bass. They are very neutral, if anything a bit light on bass but that improves with a good amp. Of course, they sound great unamped as well.- ThomasJB

I think I'm finished with Head-Fi. Anyone else?
I don't feel like I've listened to enough equipment to say I'm finished, but in terms of portable equipment I'm satisfied for now. (that may change after Emmeline "The Predator" comes out though...)- ThomasJB
