I have no problem with the sound, like I said, it ain't bad, but its their marketing that tells the masses that these are Studio/Production headphones.  "People aren't hearing all the music" Which could mean a lot of things, but also makes people assume they are buying neutral or transparent...

Won't hurt to try disconnecting it.  If static is still there then its not the usb.   I think the issue is that the audio ports share the same ground as the usb.  

If the front port also has a usb interface, disconnect the usb header. I had the same issue.  I'll probably just buy a front plate for usb.
