Serious issue with SR80's after repairing broken cable
nevermind I found the issue. There seems to be the tiniest bit of metal on the inside being magnetically attracted to the driver, keeping that plastic tweeter pressed down.- ThermL

Serious issue with SR80's after repairing broken cable
The cable going to my right ear cup got tugged too hard for the last time and finally decided to get pinched and snap off. No big deal I thought, just busted out my soldering iron and resoldered the wire together. This was at the junction where the wire enters the cup. So I took apart the cup...- ThermL

Using a "battery eliminator" circuit to power a CMOY?
I have considered using rechargables (i'm actually using them right now) its just that i'd rather avoid the hassle of swapping batteries while i'm gaming or other occurances. That and I figured this would be a simple project and offer some more opportunities to teach myself circuitry and audio...- ThermL

Using a "battery eliminator" circuit to power a CMOY?
I'm unsure about all the specs of my wallwart, but I have tested that it is isolated. I think i'll just grab a 18v wallwart off of digikey and settle all of the issues. I was looking at some more chips and was wondering...- ThermL

Using a "battery eliminator" circuit to power a CMOY?
So if I understand the TREAD design correctly, since I already have a AC/DC wallwart, I can just bypass the rectifier. Now the major question is whether or not I can remove C5. I am unsure if my wallwart has a filter cap thats nice and beefy. It's just a RAYOVAC wallwart that i'm pretty sure was...- ThermL

Using a "battery eliminator" circuit to power a CMOY?
Howdy, i've grown tired of using 9v batteries in my Tangentsoft CMoy so I've been researching various circuits I can use to regulate the power coming from a AC/DC power brick using the LM317 IC and found this little simple circuit http://www.discovercircuits.com/DJ-Circuits/bat-elim2.htm I...- ThermL

Need an technical help on this CMOY
Well reading the schematics and creating a simple railsplitter with the Texas Instruments chip would be a good start among all the other tweaks. For the two CMoys I just ordered parts for i'm going with 470uf caps in the power section to provide a better response and impact from the base...- ThermL

Need an technical help on this CMOY
Tangent has a very good write up on his website about VG circuits in cmoy amps. You can check it out here along with a lot of other information on CMoy amplifiers. http://tangentsoft.com/elec/vgrounds.html- ThermL

SR60-Mod
I was pretty pleased with some charcoal black screen replacement patches I got from home depot, I think they look quite good. However, next time I think about it I might look for em' in silver, the grills just feel more right with the silver than the charcoal black. I think this...- ThermL

SR60-Mod
Quote: That's a cool story bro, how about you tell us a little bit more as to why you won't buy grados? Actually, scratch that, I don't care. Leave this thread to the people who are actually interested in the mods, and not interested in starting another stupid "Grados are...- ThermL

Stopping Grattles from Reoccuring?
Nothing huh? I mean I hate to sound like a nagging noob on my first and second post on these boards but i've read through quite a few Grattle threads before posting this and while I found plenty of temporary fixes for grattling, nowhere did I find how to keep them from reoccuring except for a...- ThermL

Stopping Grattles from Reoccuring?
My pair of SR80i's have a very large tendency to start grattling multiple times a day, even with the volume at a reasonable level. I have to blow into the drivers every hour and a half of music listening to fix the issue and it's starting to get a bit tiresome. Anyone have tips on stopping this...- ThermL
