[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Quote: I said mini to 1/4 CABLES don't exist (at least not audiophile grade)--you have to custom make that. In the interim, yes, you can throw on an adaptor, and yes, they are readily available, unless you want a right angle one. Plenty of quarter to mini right angles, but no mini to...- Theblatt

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Quote: I actually meant I'll need an adaptor for the amp, since mini-1/4" audiophile cables don't exist. so you could get an audioquest or other mini-mini and just throw on a 1/4" adapter... you think that would produce upgraded sound?- Theblatt

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Quote: Any progress on this? The 3.5mm connect on the X1 is really nice and low profile. If you get a different aftermarket plug, it's not going to fit without chaffing the ear cup... Also, unless you get a right-angle plug, it gets to be a very long connection with an adapter. Mini...- Theblatt

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Quote: Definitely keep us posted on this. I just decided myself on cables for the DAC--and that in itself is a pretty funny topic to track! I guess in the final analysis, I was swayed by the 1s and 0s argument, assuming a non-crappy/functional cable, and so I didn't go nuts on...- Theblatt

Any people using Schiit Bitfrost and Valhalla (or Asgard) with speakers + headphones?
Are you just using a y-splitter to wire to speakers? I have powered speakers. Only the Lyr comes with a line out--and they are too much juice for my Phillips X1 headphones... So the only option I see is a Y-splitter. Anyone? Eli- Theblatt

Integrated Amplifier or DAC/AMP for use with headphones and powered studio monitors
yeah, but my understanding is that a lot of these all-in-ones DON'T shut off the line out / pre-amp when the headphones are plugged in... the result is that, if you can't control the volume on the speakers (e.g. audioengine 5), then the speakers will run at the same time as the headphones...- Theblatt

Integrated Amplifier or DAC/AMP for use with headphones and powered studio monitors
Rokit 6s. They are individually powered with levels on the back of each--designed for volume control by the source... balanced and unbalanced inputs. As far as I can tell, the only options that I'm either confirmed or pretty sure feature a line out switch attached to the headphone jack...- Theblatt

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Hey all, Quick update. Been using the headphones for a week now, and I gotta say they're a huge improvement over my old Sennheiser HD580s. Even to an untrained ear, the difference was really audible--much more dynamic range, wider, more defined soundstage, and somehow simultaneously...- Theblatt

Integrated Amplifier or DAC/AMP for use with headphones and powered studio monitors

FiiO E09 and E17 Combo. Is this a fail? The unit doesn't appear to function as a switch... who wants the speakers on when using headphones?!?
Do I need to return these? As far as I can figure out, it is not possible to listen to headphones without the speakers unless i actually unlpug the the speakers... My monitors are separately powered with volume behind, so I don't control those. FiiO seems to assume you can easily control...- Theblatt
