I listen to mostly classical and am happy with my D5000s but that is the extent of my collection.

I've worn my D5000s in public just for grins.  Not very practicle but fun.

I listen to my iPhone, computer, etc with my D5000s. They sound great and I would expect the D2000s to as well.

If I'm wearing in-ears and I can hear your in-ears across the room, over my music, then yes, you will damage your hearing. It has nothing to do with in-ear or over ear.

Interesting that you find the bass fatiguing on the D5000. Perhaps it is the music you listen to? I am looking for a nice open headphone as my second purchase after the D5000.

Not ear aches but I do get fatigued quickly. I do not like noise canceling at all. Just another gimmick.

Bought D5000s as my Christmas gift to myself. These are my first pair of headphones and wow, did I step into a new world. These are great headphones even when plugged into an iPhone. Can't wait to build a full rig.   I have not heard a lot of phones yet but if they get better than the D5000...
