DT990 VS 770 VS K701/2 VS HD598 VS AD500X
Thanks I've been recommended Thorion before, and tried them again just now.. They just don't do it for me. I think it is the repetitive guitar and drum loops.. but, if we're going to suggest random music, try.... Smetana Moldau Pavane op.50. and just for fun, the 1000 year old Icelandic...- tfninja

DT990 VS 770 VS K701/2 VS HD598 VS AD500X
I said to hell with it and got the k702s. Scan were selling AKG refurbished ones for £84 with free DPD delivery, so I saved a buck there. Apart from the box which was a little tatty, they're just like new, still with plastic to peel off around the cans. Have to say, I am totally happy :) Even...- tfninja

DT990 VS 770 VS K701/2 VS HD598 VS AD500X
Dangerous because alot of people don't like how they sound, either the soundstage is unnatural, too many flaws are brought out, or its 'tinny'. Other people say that they won't sound good without much better equipment. Bass isn't that important. More important are mids and highs. I still like...- tfninja

DT990 VS 770 VS K701/2 VS HD598 VS AD500X
Please help me to choose which. They will be powered by a Soundblaster Z, which says it can power 600ohms and has an output impedence of 22ohms (i've heard). Headphones will be used near equally for games, music and movies. Sound stage is important and I have very eclectic music tastes...- tfninja

Looking for new headphones
bump no recommendations at all? I am having an especially difficult time because of the pricing... like on Newegg USA the shp9500s are $54 (like £40) but in the UK they are £139 ($190~) so when i see rave reviews for them, i think it is probably for the American price point. Likewise the...- tfninja

Looking for new headphones
So ideally I want headphones with >80 ohm impedance? The Lindy HF100 (Brainwavzx HM5) didn't have any problem with that I could detect. If anything, I was always turning the bass boost in SBX pro studio down, because the default setting was overpowering. No suggestions yet? The shortened...- tfninja

Looking for new headphones
Those 900x are twice the price of everything else on the list. The SB-Z is meant to drive up to 600ohm, it should be good for any of these, no?- tfninja

Looking for new headphones
My Lindy HF100 have recently died due to the cup holder snapping, so I am looking for new headphones around the £90 - £120 bracket. They will be used for games, music and movies in that order. For the largest sound stage I am looking at open back headphones. For music, I listen to everything...- tfninja

Time for a new sound card/pc audio solution?
Thanks very much for your response, the technical jargon goes above my head. Will i see a very significant improvement, do you think? Is the EMI shield worth the extra £15? Thanks- tfninja

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR
This thread is too long to read through to find the conclusions, so can you tell me, is it worth upgrading from an xfi extreme music? I just bought some new headphones (lindy hf-100), and wonder if the Z would be a good upgrade to get more from them. also, is the oem just as good as the...- tfninja

Time for a new sound card/pc audio solution?
So, my old Sennheiser HD215 have long since fallen apart so ive ordered some LINDY HF-100 headphones (same as Brainwavz hm5) which i hope will be decent for gaming and listening to music. I have been running an Xfi-extreme music for about 10 years now, and wonder if its time to upgrade/change up...- tfninja
