iFi: NOS6922 Valve/Tube upgrade set (new product announcement!)

While they are a pain, the easiest way I found to remove them is to use a tube you don't like (the stock tubes, perhaps) to gently wiggle the socket savers out of the sockets. Just insert the tube into the socket saver and wiggle in a circular motion. The socket saver will come out still...

It's all good. You are correct that I'm using the tubemonger socket savers there. I really like them, except they're a real pain to remove from the MJ2 sockets.

    Grado Fan Club!

I've loved my SR-325is, but the cable was so bad that I resented wearing them. I did the removable cable mod, and now I can barely take them off my head! Well worth the time and $8 to do.

Name 4 headphones you would classify as bright, dark, warm, and neutral.

I can see how people might say that about the 400i. However, when compared directly to the Sennheiser HD 650, which I consider to be warm, it is brighter by a considerable margin, though nowhere near the brightness of the Grado SR325is.

Yin and Yang: A Tale of Two Headphones

A couple of days ago, two headphones arrived at my doorstep: the venerable Sennheiser HD 650 and the lesser-known Grado SR325is. Both were $300 through Amazon.com. I have NOT listened to either headphone prior to this purchase and chose them solely based on reviews I’ve read across the internet...

    6922 Tube Review - 17 Top 6922 6N23P E88CC CCa 7308 E188CC tubes

I've tried a few different types of tubes. The complete list is in my profile. Some of my favorites are the 1963 Amperexs, Teslas and the Siemens. I also roll the Schiit LISSTs in often to help compare to a flat, neutral response. I have yet to try the RCA and Phillips tubes because the iFi has...

    6922 Tube Review - 17 Top 6922 6N23P E88CC CCa 7308 E188CC tubes

I just received a pair of these today and have been listening to them for a few hours in my Mjolnir 2. I have to say that my initial impressions are really good for these so far. The bass has a nice added kick to it with great extension. The mids are slightly warmer than neutral and have a nice...

Oh my god, you're right... Still, I refuse to have buyer's remorse because these sound so good. https://www.tubedepot.com/products/5670w-2c51w  ...

iFi: NOS6922 Valve/Tube upgrade set (new product announcement!)

I just received my pair from Music Direct after a month of backorder! I've only listened to them for a couple of hours in my Mjolnir 2 and I have to say that I really like them so far! There is definitely some very solid bass to these! I'd say the mids are a touch warmer compared to Schiit's...

AC Power Pollution and what to do about it.

I use a CyberPower UPS. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than the PS Audio and does the same thing. It's not what you'd consider to be "audio grade" (whatever that means) but the power coming out of it is noise-free and has the added benefit of a battery backup in case the power goes out.
