Where can I buy quality, reasonably-priced line out cables?
Thanks, Germania. I always wondered why these relatively simple looking LODs would cost so much. Now, I understand better.- Spunky8

Brubeck, Anyone?
In my view, the original "classic quartet," as AudioDwebe calls it, is the best and, if you want to get into Brubeck, that's the place to start. It was always my feeling that Brubeck, who played with heavy block chords and with obvious classical training, needed the soft touch of Paul... -
Brubeck, Anyone?
My suggestion for your next album is: Jazz at Oberlin. -
Where can I buy quality, reasonably-priced line out cables?
I'm not sure what Karo means by my having to use "illusion" or in what way there is a "gap" in information. Am I missing something here? Thanks.- Spunky8

Brubeck, Anyone?
The bar in Hermosa Beach was The Lighthouse, which was owned by Howard Rumsey. It was a great place. It was small, smokey and crowded. I used to go there often. Never saw/heard Brubeck there, but I do remember hearing the whole Count Basie Band, jammed into the smallest of spaces, with me... -
Where can I buy quality, reasonably-priced line out cables?
By the way: I'm not looking for line-out from the Ipod headphone jack; rather, I'm looking for line out from the Ipod's other jack---I don't know what that's called. Thanks. -
Head-Fi has ruined my ears...
I get it, too. I bought my first "stereo" when hi-fi and stereos were new, back in the 1950's. Over time, my tastes refined and I bought some relatively high end components for my LP collection. Ultimately, I lost the stereo system---meaning speakers in our living room---to my wife's decision...- Spunky8

Am I Missing Something Re Line-Out And DAC?
Hello: I'm a relatively new Head-Fi member. My present set up is that I use an Ipod (mostly containing Lossless rips), plugged into a Little Dot amp, using an ALO cable from the Ipod to the amp; then I use Senn 595 cans. So far, I'm very happy. But: Am I missing something? I read lots...- Spunky8

Where can I buy quality, reasonably-priced line out cables?
In the $100 range for a two foot cable would be great. I've seen them for prices approaching $300---that seems a lot for what you get. Why are these things so expensive? Thanks. -
Brubeck, Anyone?
I agree that Jazz at Oberlin is fantastic. It has real staying power and there is almost palpable excitement in the audience reaction. One of my recent favorites is the Brubeck/Desmond duets album. While I always felt that Brubeck's playing was too bombastic, he's really fine on the duets... -
Where can I buy quality, reasonably-priced line out cables?
I'm looking for a line out cable from an iPod to an RCA-plugged amp. Some sources charge an arm and a leg for these cables. Can anyone please suggest a source that provides such cables at a reasonable price? Thanks.- Spunky8

Compare: Direct CD listening v. Apple lossless listening
If it's true that Lossless playing on an iPod is SQ indistinguishable from, or very close to being indistinguishable from, a quality CD player, then---in my view---the decision is a no-brainer. The pick should go to iPod for all of the usual reasons: Small, portable, no clutter from cd cases...- Spunky8

How to Use iPod with Zero 24/192 Amp?
Please excuse me if this is a silly question or one with an obvious answer. I've read good things about the reasonably-priced Zero 24/192 amp/preamp. My source is iPod using Apple Lossless rips. I'm thinking of buing the Zero amp for use on my desktop. However, I note the only input is...- Spunky8

For Vodka lovers, try Stoli Elite. Amazing, but expensive.- Spunky8

Compare: Direct CD listening v. Apple lossless listening
This thread has gone in interesting directions. It seems that what people are saying is that lots of the techno stuff my be BS. The mind plays lots of tricks and many of the listeners assume the "wow" factor from price, appearance and herd instinct, rather than from real SQ differences. I've...- Spunky8
