Quote: Hmm. Maybe I'll try out the Titanium versus my Xonar DG and see if I can notice a difference. If not, Amazon usually treats me really well in regards to returns.

How well does that Creative Titanium drive headphones? I imagine the 80 ohm version would be no problem; I would be impressed if it handled a 250 ohm headphone with relative ease.

The Deals Thread (CLOSED! See the last post for the link to the new thread)

I've been waiting for a $200 deal on D2000's and hadn't seen anything on Amazon, as I've heard they come up occasionally. Thanks for the heads up on them from EE!

The Official JRPG Thread (aka Japanese Role Playing Games)

Your opinion with DA is almost dead on with mine, but hey - at least it was better than DA2.

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

I guess I'm glad that I didn't go with previous experience with older Turtle Beach cards when looking for a new one. Their track record with me has been exemplary before, but, as you said chicolom, I'm not so sure Turtle Beach's DSP algorithms would cut it with me.

    Headphone/headset recommendation?

Quote: I was actually going to ask if you still had the DG and noticed a difference between the Forte and the DG with your Beyers. I have been a long time fan of my Xonar DG, and I think I would need some real burden of proof for me to upgrade. Not saying there isn't any improvement...

The Official Horror game Thread!! Lets put those headphones to good use!

Quote: I love Amnesia. Don't let the lack of fast-paced, in-your-face zombie head explosion action fool you. Play this game in the dark with good headphones, and you will probably pee yourself.

    (Extremely) Low Budget Computer Speakers

Yeah, you would be really hard pressed to find something else at this price range that sounds decent. I wouldn't recommend anything else until about 3x the cost you mentioned.

Optimising my Audio Setup (Need Guidance)

Dolby decoding will, for the most part, be handled by your sound card and any associated software (such as the control panel). The DAC in the D1 is also pretty decent, and you shouldn't have any issues going straight from your D1 to the HD669.   As far as the best sound for movies, really...

Using Headphone amps to amp an electric guitar?

I haven't tried hooking my electric up to a headphone amp directly, but I'm going to further reinforce the suggestion that getting a proper guitar amp with a line out/headphone out connection is your best option.   Some amps keep volume of those outputs relative to the output level of the...

    What does everyone encode in?

I used V0 mp3 for the longest time, but now I'm in the process of re-ripping all my CDs to FLAC. I use Exact Audio Copy.

Quote: Thanks, that does help. I will only be using the headphones I get near a computer so I am not really concerned with portability. I may lurk around J&R or the For Sale section here and see if I can find a pair of D2000 for $200.    Another note, I have kind of large gauged ears...

I just found this wonderful forum a few days ago, and I think I'm ready to get rid of my current ass headphones and step it up a little bit. I'm currently looking to spend ~$200USD or less on a set of headphones. I am willing and very likely to amp it as well, the cost of an amp would be...
