As a user you can't expect this to be a major problem if the manufacturer allows the user keep the screen running on high brightness non-stop. Also if the screen is prone to problems, maybe choose a different technology or no screen at all.

I'd go for a burrbrown based DAC combined with an ifi iCAN SE. I love that little amp and they can be had for cheap 2nd hand.

The setting probably went to the default of low brightness. They got burn in feedback I'm willing to guess. I left mine on high for too long and now it's bad. The new setting of 'high' brightness functions a little different now to mitigate that.

You can only switch the back outputs to be variable or fixed level, but you can't turn the volume without affecting the front headphone out. No practical way to switch.

Yup, found that out myself now actually. I built a 4pin xlr balanced adapter and used one channel from either output. It is NOT meant to be used that way.
