Loudspeakers vs headphones
I would have said Headphones for detail and immediacy until I experienced proper horn systems. There is a punch, speed and yet tonal accuracy and rightness to them that is hard to get a way from. Once you expand that 20Hz to 20000Hz, it is a rather compelling sound. Practical and take...- speedy.steve

Is the ATH W1000 better than the HD 650?
I had the HD-650's for a while - various amps and even tried them on a borrowed Slee solo with the expensiver PSU. Nice but still not quite what I was looking for. I had a couple of other 'budget' phones after the Senn's - won't bore you with the details... Then I took a punt on some W1000's...- speedy.steve

Sending DT770 for warranty-yet again looking for headphones...
I have DT770's pro 80 and love the bass too. I also have a pair of Ear Equation RP-21's - Not heard the 22's. These are a bit more forward in the mids and highs and i fancy resolve complex / fast music better than the 770's. They are little bit less weighty bass wise but not bad at all. I...- speedy.steve

Beyerdynamics DT-770/80 Pro...all I can say is WOW !!!
I found the 770's cos I wanted bass and percussion that would rival my Speakers (Tannoy 15" HPD's). I have had Grado SR-125's (just not me) and Sennheiser HD-650's as main home phones. I actually liked the punch of my portable Audio Technica ANC7 noise cancelling phones better than the...- speedy.steve

Recommendations for Best headphones on the market (new and old)
I've had a couple phones in my time Grado 125's, HD650's, Audio Technical ES7's and ANC7's and now Beyer Dynamic DT 770 80 Pro's. I became a bass head (read full range in to that) from listening to big 15" Tannoy dual cone speakers (big cabinets like in motorsport, no substitute for cubic...- speedy.steve

Help with cheap amp for BT770pro 250 ohm??
I've got a G&W J1. A pal of mine brought back from Shanghai for £55 from a headphone specialist shop. I modded it with better caps, sig wire and the biggest improvement, Hexfred fast reacting diode on the power supply instead of the dime a dozen diode that were there. It was good before...- speedy.steve

BeyerDynamic owners unite...
I have to tell my story - coming at this from a different angle, the speaker angle. I recently converted to BIG Tannoy speakers. We are talking 15" cones, dual concentric speakers in big cabinets here - none of you narrow towers... Cabinet volume, mine are only tiddlers at 100L. I am planning...- speedy.steve

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 Noise-cancelling Questions
ok tried turning my phone (N82) to UMTS only mod yesterday - guess what! Nearly ALL of the annoying GSM style interference is GONE! I only picked up a very small amount presumably from a nearby passenger using their phone - none of the as loud as the music 4-5 bursts that I got before...- speedy.steve

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 Noise-cancelling Questions
My update after a couple of weeks use on the train... 1. Most ear-bud users look enviously when you put them on. 2. Sound quality with my Nokia N82 as MP3 player is quite acceptable / good depending on the MP3 track. 3. I get some GSM mobile / cell phone interference - usually about 4...- speedy.steve

Review: ATH-ANC7 vs. Senn PXC250
Nice review. I listened to the Senn 450's and the ANC7's at a recent Hifi show and opted for the ANC7's. Partly on price and on size. I wanted something with good sound and like Audio Technica - I also like Sennheiser though having the 650's at home. I'm not in a position to compare using /...- speedy.steve

Just got my HD650 - impressions
I've had my 650's for a few months now and really like them. As said good source and amp is essential. I've found a different interconnect from source to headamp brought out / opened up the mids/highs a bit - something I like.- speedy.steve

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 Noise-cancelling Questions
Most phones are around 300 ohm. My N82 will drive my HD-650s, or ES7's quite happily - so why not the ANC7's? They just sound right with the noise cancelling on IMO. I have not found the sound to be as good with the ANC7's on my main H/Phone rig (amp T&W J1 or Little Dot2++), with the...- speedy.steve

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 Noise-cancelling Questions
They sound fuller, marginally more musical on some stuff, features I like. Speed, not sure. There's not much in it though. I have not had either of them very long. so will give them some time.- speedy.steve
