    Sennheiser MOMENTUM On-Ear Contest

the last time i went shopping for headphones, i was looking for a good sealed on-ear portable that looks as good as it sounds. i settled on the V-MODA Crossfade M-80 and i wasn't disappointed, but i wished i had found something that looked and felt more "mature." i listen to lots of rock, metal...

Quote: lol, yeah, i started using this screenname back when halo 2 came out and i first got internet. i've been using it for everything ever since. the local high school sport teams are called Spartans, and myself having been in special education as a child (for behavioral problems), i...

Stax Interview and Factory tour 12/12/12

more thanks for doing this interview. it's great to get a glimpse of how a company like this functions. i'm more excited than ever to hear the SR-009! it's great to see that there is still demand for quality and craftsmanship, even if it's a little more expensive than some spare wal-mart...

I listen almost exclusively to metal and I'm thinking of getting either the Beyerdynamic DT 990 or the Sennheiser HD600.

just throwing in my 2 cents ($400). he-400. it handles metal pretty well, i'm really enjoying it. especially for bands with good bass guitars/drums/synth. fast drum rolls sound clean as hell and breakdowns can be heart-stopping. i'm thoroughly satisfied.

    Some good Space-Rock recommendations?

+1 for Ayreon, especially "Into the Electric Castle" or both halves of the "Universal Migrator" double album, "The Dream Sequencer" and "Flight of the Migrator", not to mention "01011001", as well as Arjen's dedicated space-rock band Star One.

    Ayreon

Quote: oh yeah. if you can get into it, "Into the Electric Castle" is probably their most diverse and instrumentally complex album. some other good stuff is Flaming Row's "Elinoire", Seventh Wonder's "Mercy Falls", Symphony X's "The Odyssey" (especially the suite) Aina's "Days of Rising...

    chalange: Ayreon

Quote: know i'm bumping an ancient thread, but if anyone's still listening and you want a REAL challenge, try and do the same with the Flaming Row song "Initiation Fugato".

Good songs to test bass on headphones?

i don't listen to rap or dubstep or anything, but when i want to test the response and texture of bass on new headphones, i usually go straight to ayreon's "dream sequencer" album, it's got tons of deep, heavy synth that can be almost overwhelming.

    'North of Northern' California

red bluff here. i'm pretty sure i'm the only guy in town with headphones worth more than $100 that aren't beats. i know a guy who has some ath-m50s, i just sold some senn hd 280 pros to a guy at work and gifted an older guy i work with some jvc ha-s500s, but everyone else shops for toys at...
