I should sell these lambdas then, considering all I have to do it EQ a much cheaper open backed pair to sound just like them.

Right so what difference is there between cheap JVCs and midrange cans that gives them that flexibility?

  So does that mean I can equalize my 35 dollar JVCs to sound like Stax 009s or HD800s, or better because it's all dependent on FR?

Do any of these principles lend any credence to electrostatic drivers being more "detailed?"

So based on what I'm reading, could I hypothetically equalize a pair of koss portapros to match the FR of an HD600 and get equal performance?  Nothing else plays into the "detail" or transparency of the transducer?

Hi Ethan, Thanks for taking the time to chat.  I enjoyed watching your audio myths seminar online.    In this case, the HD600 would be the most "detailed" pair of headphones in existence if the FR curves are to be believed, and should be the end game set.  I suppose some people call that pair...

Question - why are these things so cheap (relatively speaking) if they rival headphones twice or more their price?  Is it just the age and durability issue?
