Smyth Research Realiser A16
I had a demo at London CanJam as well. Even though I already own the A8, I was still very impressed with the additional impact of the Atmos height channels. Stephen was talking to someone after he calibrated me and I was listening to some demo clips. I was turning around and looking up/down etc...- Socrates

Smyth Research Realiser A16
The spec sheet from Smyth refers to "User interface and configuration via web browser". I wonder if they've cracked the problem of access to a high end system. I'm hoping they can send the test tones for the individual speakers on the web and combine the PRIR with the HPEQ calibration. The test...- Socrates

Quote: Funnily enough I just downloaded three PRIR's that Jose kindly sent me. Two I could load, but the third gave me an error message. I'll resave and try to download again.- Socrates

Long awaited Smyth SVS Realiser NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
Quote: I had the same problem recently. For me the issue was resolved when I updated the firmware from 2010 version to the most recent 2011 version. I was then able to scroll through and find the new prirs. What version are you on?- Socrates

Long awaited Smyth SVS Realiser NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
In principle I'd agree, but not necessarily in practice. I made my own 7.1 PRIR with a pair of Definitive Technology Protower 400's. I made several calibrations to get the best possible version. Even though this is calibrated to my ears it is not as good as two of the PRIR's that others have...- Socrates

Long awaited Smyth SVS Realiser NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
I have tried out several PRIR's that other folk have been kind enough to send on to me. I have a couple now that work extremely well for me, one from Aix and one from Germany. I can compare them with the preloaded Smyth PRIR and the other prirs I received that don't work so well, and the...- Socrates

Yes, any Stax headphone will need their amp/energiser. Based on all the reviews I've read your biggest exposure will be getting a good match on the PRIR. You will make a personalised HPEQ for your DT990's and your ears, and combine this with the PRIR's the vendor will sell you. If it...- Socrates

Long awaited Smyth SVS Realiser NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
Hi Hoax, The only tweak I did was to alter the distance of the speakers from me. There is a facility to make the sound nearer or further. The PRIR that worked for me was taken further from the screen than would be the case for me. I know there is a facility for equalizing various bands but...- Socrates

Long awaited Smyth SVS Realiser NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
Hoax, I bought the Realiser without access to calibration or PRIR's. A few kind Head-Fi'ers sent me on their calibrations and I have found one that I find works very well for me, better than the personalised PRIR I made with my old midfi- system. Some work pretty well and some are...- Socrates

SS, I have Tron Legacy on order, it should sound incredible. Dsperber, in relation to moulds, I reckon you would need a full ear mould and not just the ear canal, as the personalisation also relates to the sound bouncing off the various outer parts of your ear on the way to the canal...- Socrates

Long awaited Smyth SVS Realiser NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
SillySally was kind enought to send me his Aix PRIR's last week and I had a chance to try them out at the weekend. My existing personliased PRIR was based on calibrating from two Def Tech powered speakers, changing my orientation to get 5.1 and 7.1 calibrations. My room is 13ft square with an...- Socrates

Quote: That would be great. As I say it would be fun to compare with my Def Tech set up and I could post back my findings. It would be hit or miss if your setting sounded good to me, but one can always hope. My e-mail is kcollins@ari.ie Thanks very much :)- Socrates

Long awaited Smyth SVS Realiser NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
I was wondering if somebody with an Aix calibration would be so kind as to send me a copy of the file. In Ireland I have no access to a decent set-up. I'm hoping to travel to one of the distributors in mainland Europe at some stage, or hopefully Smyth will have a UK distributor soon with...- Socrates
