What Are You Listening To Right Now?
Keith Jarrett, The Koln Concert Played the crap out of it the last couple of days. It's captured me in a way his Carnegie Hall set hasn't. Wonderful stuff.- shirtaspants

Help me spend ~$1000 on a DAC + headphone amp
Regardless of what you choose, I recommend looking on the used market to help save money. I've personally been a little hesitant about used gear unless I'm intentionally short-terming it, but on further reflection I don't really notice the difference in origin between new and used after a few...- shirtaspants

Stop recommending gear you've never heard: rant warning
Over time, its felt like Headfiers (no one in particular, just collectively) use that excuse reflexively to invalidate any criticism, and on the whole gives the impression that everything's good, nothing can be wrong. I think its really important to have a balanced view of any piece of gear...- shirtaspants

College headphones
Whatever you get, I would recommend against open headphones. I ran a few of them when I had a roommate, and looking back I feel like I was pretty inconsiderate. I know you said no in-ears, but if you do reconsider them, I've found I have to be careful when using them day-to-day. When I...- shirtaspants

What is your "Dream System" (portable)?
I agree with everyone else saying DAP > IEMs, no amp, is ideal. For me that's an iPod Touch into a pair of SE530s. I've been finding though that a lot of my portable use is more like transportable, when I'm sitting at a laptop. The Pico has been a godsend here, with better SQ- I especially...- shirtaspants

Anyone else tired of 'typical' headphone recommendation requests ?
