futureshop.ca has them in Canada for $179, also in store. They would be a great commuting phone, with the call handling and control of the phone being very well done. They sound ok with a boost in the mids and highs or pulling the bass a bit down but there is still a lack of clarity I can't get...- sgireland

There is no sugar-coating it, this 'phone has a dominant low end and a murky one at that. I find that with some eq'ing I can get a pretty good sound out of these but there is no hiding the bass heavy bias. Great controls and design. 1. Not really, no. Truckers do use them still, but mostly they use cellphones now. Depends where you live though. 2. You really do need an outside antenna to transmit with any power, but since most truckers run amplifiers you can probably get away with a small antenna for just listening...- sgireland

Another option if you want to listen to digital trunked systems is you get a commercial radio (ie : Motorola XTS3000 or Astro Saber) that supports P25 Digital and have it programed for your desired frequencies (transmit inhibited, of course).
