Why do the HE400 require so much power with such modest specs (35ohms and 92.5 db/mw sensitivity)? Same with the Mad Dogs, because people say they are as power hungry as LCD2's, when they are only 50 ohms and unmodded can be easily run off of nearly anything.

But can they be driven to sufficient volumes? The consensus in this thread seems to be that that's all an amp needs to do, as long as it is neutral of course.

What would you say the cutoff is where you would need something more powerful than an e6? HD598? HD600? HD650? HE400?

That's true, but I should clarify that while they are on, they are very comfortable, with no risk of falling off. The pain occurs after i take them off. Edit: I played with the positioning, and when I wear them lower and farther back on my head they are extremely comfortable.

I agree with your assessment of the Momentum's comfort. While they are extremely light and put almost no pressure on the top of my head, their small on ear design does pinch the bottom and backs of my ears, which causes pain the second I take them off.

I had the s4 before the Turbines, and they are worse than both of these in every conceivable way. Looser, bloated bass, sibilant highs, and much worse detail. Both of these are easily worth the price premium over the S4. If I had to rank them, it would be X10>Turbines>>>>>S4
