Quote:   what kind of signature would bring out vocals and guitar? i ask for a punchy bass and warm mids but i'm not sure that would truly compliment what i listen to. and would a fiio e17 be good with the srh 940 and akg k550? i know i like a tight punchy bass for my pop/jazz though. and...

Quote:   Sorry for leaving out so much information. Not sure if I can afford an amp, but I'll probably be investing in a portable one if anything. Maybe digizoid ZO2 or E17, dunno which one is better. But if anything, I'll get one in the future and since i'm not really an audiophile and...

I'm looking for a pair of headphones that are good for a lot of music genres with a tight bass that has a decent punch and mids that aren't recessed nor forward. Budget is around $200 to $300 and comfort and isolation are pretty important to me.

The KRK KNS-8400: you can have it all.

Are there any ear pads that fit the 8400 that help improve the sound? The memory foam pads seem great and all but I was hoping to be able to improve sound through the switching of other earpads.

Hey everyone,   Been having a difficult time choosing between the KNS 8400 and SRH 840 because I've been reading reviews about both of them. And sometimes the opinions can be very opposing and almost contradicting one another. For example, a few have commented that the KRKs bass is decent...

Need help choosing a headphone for listening at home.

Are the bass on the KNS 8400 fun despite lacking the mid-bass hump the SRH 840 have? And do the KRKs sound cold because of them being detailed?

    Best comfort headphone

How is the comfort on the KRK headphones?

Quote:   Yeah, I'm looking for something slightly smaller. Any other entry level cans that are balanced, detailed (but not overly) with a warm/fun sound?

    FLAC to ALAC

I'm not sure if this has been posted already but most of my music files are your standard MP3, but I've recently been downloading a lot of music in FLAC but I use iTunes and an iPod/iPhone so I was wondering what are some safe and effective ways into converting FLAC to ALAC which is Apple's own...

Quote:   +1 for Ultrasone HFI 580, but the comfort can be an issue and has been mentioned by many. I'd say the SRH840 since I've seen it priced at around $150 but many have said in comparison to the 440, the price jump is not worth it. The ATH-M50 are also worth looking at; it has a...

    SRH840 or Citiscape Uptown's?

I'm looking at the Uptowns as well, and I actually tried them at a local BestBuy. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I agree with what KG Jag said, they are definitely more coloured. Aside from SQ though, they are definitely better looking - despite the cable drawbacks. But it really depends...

Sorry I missed this thread, but since I found it, I'll post my question here again. I'm looking for a pair of headphones with a similar sound to the SRH840. I listen to a lot of music genres, so I'd like a balanced sound. Nothing too detailed. Something fun with a nice bass (but not like...
