Looking for a nice Microphone Preamp circuit
A mic pre seems a pretty close cousin to a head amp. Higher gain/lower noise, but otherwise pretty darn similar. There's a universe of mic pre discussion over at taperssecion.com, but almost none is DIY relevant. I record quite a bit and would like to have a portable stereo mic preamp to...- sanaka

Which Soldering Iron?
I got this Pace station from Contact East and love it so far. It's $100. Admittedly, I was partial to this brand because they published the soldering manual I learned from, but also it looked like nice hardware. I haven;t had to turn the heat past about 2/3 for anything so far, whereas my...- sanaka

Pimeta capacitors
I hope the more knowledgable will chime in here, but I think the ground channel buffer(s) 'override,' orincrease, or, uh, buffer, the 20mA limitation of the TLE. Otherwise it would be quite rediculous, wouldn't it? Peace, Sanaka- sanaka

Bass boost cap: polypropylene/polyester differences?
Quote: no longer manufactured Mouser has Vishay 632P, a 50v metallized polycarbonate, and Xicon 50v polystyrene "fused to foil". A nice 10uf 632p is only $314.30! The Xicons go up to .01uf, @ $.38. I make no claims as to their suitability for anything. Peace, Sanaka- sanaka

Cerafine vs. Muse vs. Panasonic FC?
Anyone try the new FM's? Less values available, but Panasonic says they're even better than the FC's.- sanaka

Cerafine vs. Muse vs. Panasonic FC?
Or at least that the workhorse, reasonably priced, easily obtainable FC's are at the least quite decent Peace, Sanaka- sanaka

a very different kind of hybrid
Thanks 00940. Presumably Dr. G just didn't draw in the voltage for powering the opamp? Would it just use the same +/-15v? Or am I wrong and it really is exactly as drawn? Peace, Sanaka- sanaka

a very different kind of hybrid
I'm curious too. Especially about KG's segment. I don't know what a servo really is, but a class A buffer for driving cans, without the big signal path caps, seems very appealing. I was getting ready to build a Szekeres or similar buffer (follower, whatever). Would this servo design also work...- sanaka

Other good DIY sites for electronics building
Speakers: Here is my website from a couple years ago. Nothing amazing like snail shell cabinets. I built the "DHT/MTMs" and the "DBPs" The DBPs are especially nice for a budget/beginner project. Peace, Sanaka- sanaka

Is the voltage gain stage (ever) redundant in a headphone amp?
Seems to me it's basically a matter of how well you like the out put of your EMU 1212m (not sure what that is exactly). If you totally dig the sound but just need a current boost to drive your cans, then that's the simplest route. Otherwise if you additionally think it's worth it to totally...- sanaka
