Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Texas Roadhouse doesn't represent Texas food anymore than Cracker Barrel represents southern food. Both are sub-par chains IMO. Edit - My dad used to live a few miles south of Estes Park, Co. Outside his back door was essentially Rocky Mountain National Park. The problem with bears in his...

@ArmchairPhilosopher So you're saying that taste in music, whether it be genre or playback, is subjective? But, but.. charts and graphs don't can't lie :beerchug: Indeed!

I'm glad you mentioned Waiting For Columbus. The 2022 remaster is available on Qobuz as well and I need to give it a listen. It's likely the best sounding live album in my collection. I've heard good things about Foobar but the Mac version isn't fully supported so I've never tried it.

    I thought MQA was already a garbage MP3 :)

I find this discussion interesting. I'm of the opinion that some (most?) new music is mastered to sound good on bad equipment. It has to be intentional. I also find this to be true of remasters of older albums. (Exceptions are plentiful, Steven Wilson's remasters of Jethro Tull and Yes come...

You could always convert all your files to low bitrate MP3s and save Mike the hassle :beerchug:

Oh. I normally see that written as "Delta Sigma" not "Sigma Delta". Need to show my ignorance every now and then. :beerchug:

Sorry - what's an "SD DAC"?

How about a pre-amp with built in DAC (one with more inputs than just USB..)? Freya+Bifrost maybe. Agreed.

Tee one up this easy and I'm gonna take a swing at it.. 3" is 50% longer than 2" so you're not wrong. Sorry, I'll let myself out for the rest of the night. :beerchug:

Your reasons for staying with Spotify and moving away from Roon are 100% valid. I still pay for Spotify because I just can’t convince my wife to get rid of it. She likes Roon but has several years worth of Spotify playlists that she just won’t give up. We have also tried: * Apple Music...

Agreed. There are many ways to go about running Roon. My NAS runs my Plex server and my NUC runs nothing but Roon. It’s what works for me. FWIW If there was a 100% Roon supported Roon server app for my Synology NAS I’d be happy to use it.

I realize that not everyone wants to dedicate the resources towards a dedicated Roon server but I've had great luck with Roon ROCK running on an Intel NUC. I have had Roon Remote on various IOS devices crash on occasion but the server itself has been rock solid since I set it up ~18 months ago...

I subscribe to Stereophile. One thing that Stereophile gets right IMO is that the reviewers must listen to the equipment before measurements are taken. It irks me that ASR measures the equipment and then maybe, just maybe, gives it a listen. ASR gives recommendations based solely on this...
