I agree with you. Having tried some 'pad rolling' in the past, it always seemed like I liked each headphone with their respective stock pads the most. However, tube rolling on the other hand... :P I definitely had more success with that.

Do you have experience with a soldering iron? From what I have heard, doing the detachable cable mod is rather easy with little soldering experience. Might save you some bucks and some waiting time. Cheers

Are you using the SDR mod with the HD 800? Curious, because the person I bought my HD 800 from told me, it is not needed with the V281. Interested in your opinion.

I feel like I haven't appreciated my Audeze LCD-2 (Bamboo/Alcantara) enough on head-fi. That being said, Air - La femme d'argent still is by far my favorite on the LCD-2 compared to all my other cans and speakers. :)

Some Audio GD products seem to measure rather poorly recently (haven't seen measurements of the NFB-11 though!). However I've owned my NFB-11.28 unit for close to two years now and have since then never felt the need to upgrade.
