    SONY IER-Z1R

For me, the Z1R is peak hybrid and the qdc Anole VX is peak BA. I meant to sell one for my financial sanity, but I can't. My favourite changes by the day depending on mood. The VX, being 10BA, has more raw detail and coherence. It's not like the Z1R is incoherent or unresolving; it's top tier...

Are you suggesting that the Z1R has thicker lower mids than the VX? The Z1R, for all its brilliance, definitely has relatively thin lower mids.

I listen with all switches off. The bass switch made the bass too bloated. Mids are already forward enough for me with mids switch off. The treble switch made the 7-9k spike harsh for me (when it's not harsh with the treble switch off). All three switches on could be considered "fun mode". But...

I haven't heard anyone say this. Some say that the tonality of the U12t is better than the VX, especially in the sub bass. But almost everyone agrees that the VX is far ahead in technicalities. It's interesting the experience you had.

VX is on top with the Z1R for me, too. Depends on my mood. Every few days I seem to change my "favourite". Z1R has great technicalities but as you say, the VX is king of technicalities. The resolution supersedes any other IEM I've heard. The soundstage on VX is slightly narrower but deep af...

    SONY IER-Z1R

Yes, what do you both mean? Audiophile terms are notoriously nebulous and subjective. Is the MDR more V-shaped with more recessed mids? I find the IER-Z1R with triple flange tips w/ deep insertion to counter the claims of extreme v-shape and it is now a u-shaped IEM. What is the MDR compared to...

    SONY IER-Z1R

I love the IER-Z1R over my Anole VX, personally. I'm looking at the MDR-Z1R over-ear, though. Has anyone tried both? I am looking for a comparison of the sound signature compared to the IER-Z1R. I am going to try and access them soon for a trial. I would be interested in opinions.
