flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)

Haven’t tried the erlkonig with crystal cables yet, but on the VE8, the crystal cable dream duet made the VE8 sound like a completely different iem.

Cayin N3Pro DAP: Dual AK4493 and MQA with Vacuum Tube

I think an odd thing about the n3pro is is that it makes everything sound a certain way for me. I’m not too sure what I’m hearing yet, but so far, after trying it with iems, headphones, and less expensive earphones, it’s been making all of them sound more similar. I feel like no matter the...

More updates on the Cayin n3pro, I've never heard my low-end hd 598s sound so good... it sounds better than my a12t aside from the lack of subbass... whats going on...

HIFIMAN Releases New Flagship DAP "R2R2000"

Got an n3pro! Between the n6ii and the n3pro, the n6ii is closer to the hifiman. the unit I tried had the T01 module. It is bodied and physical sounding without sacrificing micro detail. The n3pro is thicker and even more physical sounding, with a more intimate presentation and smoother, less...

Cayin N3Pro DAP: Dual AK4493 and MQA with Vacuum Tube

My ibasso player could charge and play at the same time, but it ran out of battery faster than it could charge and would die completely mid-playback. Is this an issue here? Also quick question on the LEDs illuminating the tube, does it turn on in an instant or does it slowly light up? I feel...

Cayin N3Pro DAP: Dual AK4493 and MQA with Vacuum Tube

Thanks, I see, have a cable adapter, can't remember what it's called, but I find it too heavy and floppy. I guess adapters will always just have downsides

How does that adapter feel in your pocket? I invested into 4.4 and need to adapt as well

HIFIMAN Releases New Flagship DAP "R2R2000"

Thanks :p I'll try to do listening tests for all of them before I buy! I would love a tube dap :p I think I'm chasing after something with a similar flavor. I felt the Red was natural yet realistic and detailed sounding with strong subbass that gave everything a style of body that didn't sound...

HIFIMAN Releases New Flagship DAP "R2R2000"

My hifiman r2r2k red died and I’m looking for a similar sounding replacement, hopefully for a better price and smoother operation. I’m thinking Cayin n6ii, n3pro, or hiby r6pro

Cayin N3Pro DAP: Dual AK4493 and MQA with Vacuum Tube

Any comparison with the hiby r6pro?

Cayin N3Pro DAP: Dual AK4493 and MQA with Vacuum Tube

seems more like the step down based on the pricing. the tubes in this dont seem to be particularly fancy. I think they were used in a few entry level portable "tube" amps most notably the elekit tu-hp01. never had any experience with those tho
