For music you could look at the Xonar STX, or for positional audio, Auzentech Forte.   I don't think you are going to notice any difference between the Prelude and Forte...  And if you swap over to the STX or ST you're positional audio will suffer slightly.   Not much really to upgrade...

Gaming headsets don't really emphasis sound quality, if that is what you are after.  They generally just offer an attached microphone and are headsets that will do the job at a good price.   Using a wireless headset might negate the improved sound you gain from a dedicated soundcard.  ...
