Do you have the source volume raised? As in, do you have the MacBook Pro volume raised, and then adjust the volume on the AirPods? In my case, I can get the volume of the headphones much higher when wired, as opposed to wireless.

I never use EQ, but your setting did the trick and made these ‘phones more than listenable to me, after not using them for a year. Thanks!

Agree completely about the bigger pads. The bass is extended to the point of bleeding the stereo image. Not a fan. When I want a “meatier” sound from a closed back, I’ll stick to my M&D MH40s.

I inquired to Master & Dynamic if their new lightning cable was going to be equipped with a DAC, and their response was that there is one, much like Apple’s dongle. He was checking with their technicians to determine the resolution of DAC.

I had the same problem, and not just with the Oppo. But FINALLY, a solution (hopefully for good!)...turn off True Tone on the iPhone X display settings. Worked for me, hope it works for you.

Thanks. I kind of figured that out anyway, as the iPhone is technically being fed into the DAC of the dongle, so it's much like feeding it into my Oppo HA-2. And Oppo suggests to set the phone output at maximum volume.

Very nicely written. Quick question for you, when attaching a 3.5mm cable to the dongle to plug into, say, a car's AUX input, would you leave the phone volume on max, or a click below?
